We use to go to Los Portales restaurant in Chino all the time but we moved up to North Fontana. We came to the Montclair location a few weeks ago and the food was amazing! But the service was terrible! We saw our waitress about 3 times and kept asking other servers for help… but there is no denying the food was great. On Monday we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and decided to go to dinner at Los Portales to celebrate. It was Monday around 7pm … there were probably 3 tables in use … one table had a group of five people and then it was us two across from them. We were excited because the server we had the last time was not there… we were hopeful but again the we saw the server only a few times and we had to ask other servers for help… the table next to us with 5 people were drinking so I literally counted the number of times their server came to ask them if they needed anything else… she would come out about every 15 minutes and at least 8 times… maybe it was because they were drinking or maybe it was because they were Caucasian… I don’t know. Maybe our server thought we were not going to give her a good tip because we are Mexican but we ended up giving about an 18% tip. I was upset but my husband quickly said at least the food was good. If you go to Los Portales just lower your expectations on good service. But again the food...
Read moreThis place was a 1st time try for us on a recommendation from my husband's coworker. The staff was so inviting and kind no wait and our waitress was amazing. She had a big smile and checked on us frequently. The food was so good, delivered nice and hot to the table in no time. Our drinks were made very well to our liking as well, so kudos to the bartender. My husband got the Cadillac margarita, and I ordered a strawberry daiquiri, and I always substitute the rum for Malibu rum (try it, you won't be disappointed). We got a small Albondigas soup to try because we love a good soup spot for cold days, and it was so vibrant, hot, and full of flavor. We got the Chili relleno and cheese enchilada combo plate. Both were packed with plenty of sauce and lots of gooey melty cheese, and the rice and beans were phenomenal as well. We ordered dessert to go as we were full from dinner. We got a slice of carrot cake, a slice of chocolate cake, and a slice of the turtle cheesecake. All 3 were delicious. We live in Covina, so we're not super close, but we will definitely be back again. Thank you to our amazing waitress and staff for a...
Read moreUpdate - this review was for an experience at the Chino location, not Montclair. I apologize for any confusion between the two locations. I stand by the review because this is exactly what happened, just not in Montclair.
Well my friend and I went to try this place for a late lunch last week. Kinda 2:15-3:15. We went at my suggestion because people on Nextdoor app were recommending both the Montclair and Chino locations as a place that still serves homemade tortillas. The tortillas were not the problem. Only my order came with any, not my Friend's. Very expensive for a lunch since we didn't order off the lunch menu in order to try what we wanted. Maybe that was our mistake. So my carnitas plate was fine. But my Chili relleno was obviously microwaved because the ceramic plate was scorching hot and the food was still ice cold inside. My friend got a chicken flauta that was also microwaved with a hot plate and cold inside. And the chicken must've been raw or spoiled because she got food poisoning. Guess what? There's too many other good options to ever go back again. You should get decent food no matter what time...
