We went on the first beautiful spring day of 2015 so of course they were jam-packed with walk-ins (Emergency Sandal Pedicure Stat!).The three of us (two women and one man) had an appointment for a mani pedi that I had made the day before. They got their first star when they were able to accommodate 3 appointments on short notice and when the woman on the phone told me that there would be no extra charge for the man in our party (a practice that I deplore and that has become all too common in nail salons). They got their second star when we saw the place. Beautiful. Spotless. The owner obviously cares about the business a whole hell of a lot because even the tiniest details showed care and consideration (notice the light switch covers and the pattern in the drop ceiling tiles). The staff was friendly and apologetic when they could not sit all three of us together. Every chair was full when we arrived so we waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Once in the chair, the same woman completed my mani and pedi. Her name was Ruth and I knew I was dealing with a thorough and thoughtful manicurist when she kept going back for her cuticle cutters throughout the manicure to trim even the tiniest bit of imperfection. The manicure lasted at least a half hour and included cut, file, buff, cuticle trimming and oiling, a soak with lemon slices and nail conditioner, exfoliating with a salt scrub, moisturizing with real aloe leaves and lotion, hot towels, three coats of polish and a coat of sealant - star number 3. The pedicure was hands down the best pedicure of my life. It lasted about an hour and included a HOT STONE MASSAGE in their basic, very reasonably priced service. It also included a cut, file, buff, cuticle care, a soak with either eucalyptus or lemon, a SERIOUS callous removal WITHOUT the use of blades, a luxurious salt rub, at least ten minutes of massage with hot stones (I was in heaven so I may have lost count of the minutes), hot towels, moisturizing with actual honey and lotion, two coats of polish and sealant. They even offered me a cup of tea. I couldn't believe it. The pedicure by itself was worth 2 stars. When we paid (the price was $42 for a mani and pedi, how could this be?!), they handed us three $10 dollar off coupons because their services weren't "perfect" (what?!). If I could give them another star I would. All three of us were impressed. I took a menu of their services (they have the most reasonable prices I've ever seen for spa services) and I...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Jeeyune for about two years now. I’m a creature of habit; once I have a routine or place I like, I’m bound to repeat it out of comfort and convenience. Jeeyune is both of those things and more for me. Jennifer, the owner, runs this business with such a humble and sincere hand and makes me happy to be a loyal patron.
A little background: Having reached new heights in my career, I had wanted to upgrade my aesthetic to match, hence the nails. I found Jeeyune pretty much how you might be finding it now: by looking online for well-reviewed nail salons near me. My spirit of discernment gave a nod of approval and off I went.
But let me be careful not to mispeak: Jeeyune isn’t a simple nail salon, it is a nail spa. Coming here feels like escapism: quiet, cozy, clean, quaint. A relaxing visage of Satie’s Gymnopedie No. 1 come to life. The ladies are all very meticulous and cordial, genuinely caring about the work that they do. It’s one of the reasons why Jeeyune is the only place I go for manicures (UV gel) and pedicures (gel; they last forever, let me tell you): I know that I’ll be taken care of here. I feel the prices are quite fair for the quality of work that is done and can trust that I’ll always be satisfied with the outcome. I’m very type-A so I always make appointments rather than walking in; it gives just as much grace to them as it does to you to really ensure impeccable service.
It’s been a joy to find my own personal nail style by going to Jeeyune and have just a small part of my outward appearance match how I’m feeling inside. If you’re looking for a little escape, some pampering, needing to indulge in some self-care or are just simply in the business of looking for a new #1 nail spot, I can’t recommend Jeeyune enough. Tell ‘em I...
Read moreI scheduled manis/pedis for my mom and me. One technician couldn’t do a French mani/pedi (you got it!!! She couldn’t paint a line 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️). Gladys started my manicure while I was having my pedicure. I asked her about soaking my nails before cutting them and/or filing them and continued trying to cut my nails. I then told her I didn’t want my nails cut until after I soaked them. Her response was she’ll soak them after (whatever that meant 🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️). She then switched places with the lady that was doing my pedicure. The lady that was doing my pedicure went to give a customer who just arrived a pedicure. After Gladys finished painting my toes she told me to wait and went to give a customer who just arrived a manicure. After my mom’s toes were finished her technician left her sitting at a table to take a customer who just arrived 😒😒😒.
We decided we didn’t like the service and chose not to wait for manicures. Gladys wasn’t able to ring us out (I was paying with a card 😠😠😠). She had the nerve to ask us to wait until the owner/manager got back. I said absolutely not. I gave her my name and number and told her I’d be up the street having dinner the owner/manager can call me when she returned. Over an hour later the owner/manager called me back. She had the nerve to ask me to come back to the nail salon. When I told her no she asked me for my card info 😳😳😳.
Well today I went back to pay for the pedicures. She absolutely did not want to give me a discount. She wanted to give me a discount if I scheduled the manicures we didn’t get. I told her I absolutely was not ever coming back to her establishment and I’ll take a 10% discount today please and thanks. She eventually conceded to the discount but dog on it!!! She should have been...
