One River School of Art + Design — Attraction in Montclair

One River in Montclair is a private art program that I absolutely could not recommend more. They have a wide range of classes and camps for all levels between the k-12 classes and adult classes that they offer. I personally have had a very positive experience in the multiple summer camps I have taken, as well as the Advanced Teen Shuffle and the Portfolio Development classes that I’ve taken consistently over the last two years. Class schedules are clear and easy to work with, the curriculum is well balanced and easily meets each student’s needs to help them develop their skills, and the materials and mediums offered are always well maintained and of very high quality. The educators and staff are also a wonderful group of supportive and talented individuals who are all extremely knowledgeable, and actively curious about, the arts. They have never failed to motivate exploration and creativity in the arts which is something that has absolutely allowed my artistic career to flourish. As someone who has now been accepted into a highly prestigious art school, I am proud to say that much of my college art portfolio was completely made or at least worked on at One River. Again, I cannot recommend this school enough and I think it should be of high consideration for anyone looking to bring themself or their kid(s) into the world...

If you’re looking for a great place for art, One River in Montclair is well worth your time…for both adults and children. They have a great selection of classes and instruction, modern facilities, and their teachers are very pleasant and knowledgeable.

My daughter (senior in high school) has had tremendous progress and enjoyment taking classes at O.R. and as a result is much better prepared for studying graphic design in college. Photoshop is known to be a challenging software to learn, but thanks to O.R., my daughter now enjoys using it every day. The amount of time (and money) she will save in college will be huge. Portfolio development is another great class for young people looking for higher education in the arts.

One River School is an amazing Art school! I have learned so much through my teachers, as they helped and guided me through out my Art journey. I have created numerous pieces exploring different mediums and it is always an amazing experience getting to learn different techniques, with oil painting and graphite being my very favorite. I have taken Portfolio development for over 2 years and the instructors has always been lovely and very helpful! I recently took an Art camp for portrait drawing using graphite and it really pushed me on getting the proportions and looking at the shadows and light.
