I haven’t had Thai food in some time so when I googled, it came up with this lovely place. Even when ordering takeout, the co-owner was pleasant and welcoming. He asked me my name then introduced me to his wife and business partner. I ordered the beef satay, tom kha soup, pad Thai with pork, pineapple curry with duck (a special request), sticky rice with mango and Thai iced tea. OMG, all of it was so delicious with generous portions. The soup was flavorful and the pad Thai was not overcooked, as it sometimes can be made goopy at other places. The curry was just enough spicy and the duck was so tender and crispy. The sticky rice with mango actually silenced me because I was just savoring the taste of the coconut and mango, which was perfectly ripe and sweet. Although I didn’t stay in their dining room, it looked beautiful and cozy so we can’t wait to return and stay to have dinner. Last (and what a surprise), the co-owner saw that I was struggling to hold my order (I had so much food) so he dispatched one of his staff to carry it for me to my car, which was two blocks away. I was sincerely touched by this kind gesture. I can’t...
Read moreIn the sweet bustle of this charming town is a delightful Thai spot called Charm Thai. As a biased Thai foodie, I left smitten with this place. The service was charming and the food delicious. As the Brit’s would describe, “beautiful”. Served in traditional Thai table ware and with traditional Thai flavors, surrounded by Uber, right umbrellas, and Thai dancer puppets, the night consisted of Thai curry puff to start, followed with curries and a stir fry. Both the Panang curry and the Thai green curry or spicy as requested and hit the spot. The stirfry had just enough garlic and Thai sweet soy to balance the umami so nothing was overwhelming, but perfectly balanced. Unfortunately, we were too full to have dessert, but I will definitely come back here to try some. So when in Montclair, New Jersey when you want to feel transported to the beaches of Thailand by flavor, definitely stop by this...
Read moreWe were all disappointed with our meals. Not truly Thai in our opinion and we all love Thai food. The Thai beef salad had hot beef in the cold salad, was extremely chewy with non of the expected flavors. The dumplings were similar to what you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. My Panang curry was watery, looked like a regular red curry and not spicy at all. The soft shelled crabs were fried to a dark brown with dried crabmeat so it was like eating shell. They forgot 1 chive appetizer and after inquiry it arrived after the entrees. We had to ask for serving spoons. The other 2 entrees (chicken with green curry and a noodle dish) were just ok. Service all around was lacking but it was a nicely decorated room and the live music was a...
