The only positive thing I can say about this experience is that the weather was great but that's California for you, it's mostly sunny here! Please exercise caution when you go sailing with these guys. They will try to rip you off as they did me! I went there today and the guy booked me for a two hour sailing experience which said: Two Hour Bay Cruise (13-14 mile cruise near shore & open water). I paid $69 for this package which is an extortionate price! Anyways, half-hour into my sailboat experience I was told that there was a mix-up and the cruise is only going to be 1 hour!!! All the other passengers paid for 1 hour except me. They paid $39 each. The boat was turned back and the cruise lasted just 1 hour in total. When I confronted the guy at the desk and demanded that he refund me the $20 he flatly refused saying the mix-up wasn't his fault. He didn't even apologise and instead offered me another 1 hour cruise at an inconvenient time knowing full well that I won't be able to make it! In any case, the 1 hour cruise does not go into open water and is only 5-6 miles compared to the 2 hour cruise which I originally paid for. I did not want to argue with this guy and ruin my weekend! He pocketed $20 extra dollars from me without providing any service. This company is a rip-off....

What a great experience! I bought a 1-hour bay cruise for my boyfriend and myself. We came to the cruise office and were told that it was very windy and rough out on the Bay, and they would probably have to cancel the cruise for that afternoon. They offered us the option to give it a try, knowing that it was bad conditions, or to reschedule. All 3 couples who signed up agreed to give it a try, so we headed out. It was very rough out there, but what a thrill! It was really exciting & exhilarating! The captain was very experienced and calm, and I wasn't afraid, despite the "hairy" conditions. He was also very interesting, telling us about his career on the sea.

After a short time, the captain felt it was too unsafe to continue further, so we went back to port. I really respected their concern for our safety and willingness to please their customers. Also, when we returned to the dock, they offered us a full refund or the option to re-book for another date. Since we came down from Sacramento and are not likely to return very soon, we opted for the refund. They were so wonderful and courteous about everything, I can't say enough good things. I look forward to trying it again with this company, on my next...

I originally booked a sunset sail with Chardonnay Sailing Charters as part of my surprise adventure itinerary for my fiancé's 30th birthday. I had it booked for about a month and they cancelled the sail the day before due to low sign ups. I was freaking out since I had booked it during Labor Day weekend. THANKFULLY Sail Monterey had two more tickets left and I am so glad we sailed with them. It was the first time we had ever done anything like this and we were blown away by the beauty of a sunset sail and how clean/safe our boat was.

Paul was great and made sure that everyone was comfortable and had the refreshments they needed for the sail. Since I booked the last two tickets at the last minute, I wasn't prepared to bring extra snacks and drinks...so I recommend that you bring your favs so you can truly get comfortable. They had goldfish & pretzel snacks, water, and some alcohol (rosé & white claws). We wish there was beer but were completely content with what we got. He even handed out blankets to use during the sail to cozy up from the winds. I would definitely recommend them and plan to sail again next time we...

we were looking for a short boat ride because my mom can't be out too long at a time, but most of the tours in Monterey are 3 hours or more. this company offers 90 minute tours, but we were able to get a happy hour special that's about 30-40 minutes & stays in the little bay. plenty of wildlife to see. our mom uses a walker and we had to walk down stairs to get to the boat, but if you have accessible needs you can call ahead and ask about getting a private tour from another docking point that is more accessible. the catamaran has room to roll wheelchairs on board. they have drinks and snacks and comfortable seating, but you can also stand in the center area, or sit on the front. they do offer private charters and have a liquor license. the staff was cool, the music was great, and it was a nice experience. I definitely recommend this company if you have accessibility needs, or people who can't tolerate long outings

My wife, a close friend, and I took the 5 pm Sunset Catamaran Sailing Cruise with Sail Monterey, and it was a fantastic experience. Captain Paul was at the helm, bringing both expertise and a calm, relaxed presence to the journey, making us feel completely at ease. The cruise offered a selection of refreshments, including water, wine, and beer, and cozy blankets were available as the sun dipped below the horizon—a thoughtful touch that added to the comfort of the evening. We were fortunate to have just the right amount of wind, which made for an exhilarating sail once the engine was turned off. The quiet that followed was idyllic, letting us fully enjoy the natural beauty of Monterey Bay. We can’t recommend this company enough. With excellent pricing, a delightful ride, and an experience that exceeded all our expectations, this cruise was an absolute highlight of our trip.

My wife and I booked a daytime cruise (10/25/24 @11AM-12:15PM) on Sail Monterey. While on this particular day the winds were quite light, so it was not sufficient to travel under sail, but that also meant calm water (which was fine with us). This was our first sail trip ON Monterey bay even though we have traveled to this area countless times over the past 45 years. It was very enjoyable learning more about the ecosystem of Monterey Bay. The skies were blue with striking high clouds and a perfect temperature. Could not have been better for our trip. Plenty of harbor seals and sea lions near the harbor and even out in the Bay. Great job by all the staff. Highly recommend this trip.
