Went to get vibram soles placed on designer boots. I explained this to the staff (who have performed this service for me a few times in the past few months), paid for the service, and an hour later I get a phone call that the guy couldn’t repair my shoes. I inquired as to why this wasn’t told to me prior to payment and leaving them and was told it was due to an unrelated customer incident (I believe someone recently ruined another customer’s shoes with the vibram process). I was annoyed that I was unable to get the service on this pair after paying and leaving my shoes in their care. Carl’s has performed this exact service for me on three pairs of the same designer boots successfully. I never complained about the work previously done, only requested that the boots be cleaned afterwards because the employee did leave residue of whatever product he used on them. I even purchased some shoe polish from them which solved this issue. So it was odd that the job couldn’t be completed and I wasn’t told this information prior to payment. Definitely don’t know what happened but I suspect that they ruined a pair of expensive shoes and the customer got angry. Disappointed with Carls as I have to find another professional to fix my shoes and Carls was decently priced. For Carls to claim to have a “master cobbler”, they should have more confidence in their work and be able to do custom repairs on both low and high-end shoes. However, I’m thankful they didn’t ruin them & had the decency to return my shoes. I suggest that if you have a higher priced shoe, don’t waste your time here.

I was recently assisted by the very nice saleswoman. I'm not putting the previous men that I've seen down in any way, but, this was the best, easiest, and most Pleasant shoe shopping experience ever. I don't mean to sound over dramatic, but, most times you're sitting there waiting or for sales people in other kinds of stores are distracted or looking at their phones ignoring you. This person opened the doors a full 20 minutes before the store open because she saw me standing there. That is what you look for when you shop. When you want to buy some generic item you can do that online you can't do it with shoes and really get what you want and need. My mother is 91 years old and went to this store when she was a kid.

I went to Carl’s last year for a pair of shoes for nursing. I got fitted with a 7 1/2 in new balance. I always thought that I was a seven but the shoes fit good however, I wanted a new pair of shoes for my new job, so I went back to Carl’s last week and they didn’t have much of a selection which was fine but I bought a pair of shoes I was told I was an eight I got home and put the shoes on and I noticed that the instep was too tight so I had to go back and return them. It was about 320 when I arrived and they closed at four, so they didn’t have time to fit me again, so I just requested the shoes that I had tried on previously that day. I also tried a pair of insoles, but they didn’t fit good and I had to pay for them anyway because the guy had to open them even though they were uncomfortable and just honestly a waste of money. The cashier said I didn’t have to buy them if I don’t like them but then the guy came up and said I had to. I feel like the fact that I had to buy them anyway is ridiculous and makes me feel like all they care about is a sale. I bought a different pair of shoes that I exchanged for the ones that I Scott sold earlier in the day. However, I went back in and I returned them simply just because the way that they were treating me there. I then went to REI and I bought a pair of shoes there and I’m glad I did because they’re better than the ones that I almost walked out with at Carl’s. The worker that fitted me kind of seemed like he was in a hurry to clock out, even when I went there earlier in the day around 1:30 PM. I just kind of felt rushed...

Very DISAPPOINTED the owner Jeff Barone told me my Diabetic inserts which needed modification would be ready for pick up in Two weeks and that i would receive a phone call. I waited Three weeks no phone call....i followed up and was told next week it will be ready. Again no call so i called again on Thursday and was told ready on Monday,,,,,another week goes by...so i went to the store was told its ready. this circus took about Five weeks!!!! Jeff came out and told me "YOU REALLY DID NOT NEED THE INSERTS FOR ANOTHER THREE MONTHS" !!!!! My Doctor had a different spin on how often to replace the Inserts. Upon leaving the store i said to Jeff it would proper to contact a customer and let them know the status of an order that almost Four weeks late....whether it be Shoes or inserts and asked why did this take this long? His reply "I WAS BUSY WITH OTHER THINGS" !!!! I further stated how can a customer come back after this kind of experience and his reply was : MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO TO ANOTHER PLACE.....to get your shoes next time!!!! In My opinion i feel he is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL !!!!!!! I will take his advise and NEVER go back and share this experience with my Diabetic...
