
I want to share an experience I had at the salon. I’m a resident in Delran and my work is in Maple Shade. I own a business and my schedule can often be interrupted.
In November I had an appointment on Thanksgiving week and was running 10 minutes late. I called to explain that I would be running a couple minutes behind and they told me they were holding a very tight schedule due to the holiday. I told the woman I understood that it was my fault that I was running behind and if I had to miss this appointment, so be it. She went on to explain that although I’ve been a client for over two years, she would have to charge me for this as it would be viewed as a “missed appointment“. I asked her to discuss this with the owner and to explain the situation and to let me know what her final decision would be. After a couple days went by I got a phone call telling me that the owner decided to charge me $67 for the missed appointment fee! She had my American Express on file and ran it accordingly.
American Express will allow me to fight this charge. I can get my $67 back if I really want to. I’m not doing that. They clearly needed it and knew they risked losing a client over it.
In business we are either transactional or we are relationship driven. I do not feel I was appreciated as a customer.

During the end when it was getting blown out my hair started breaking off, the stylist just told me to “wait for it to air dry and use K18.” There was no explanation, not much of an apology, or offer to help fix the damage. I still think about it a lot til this day because of how my hair is still so damaged from this. My hair is naturally very curly, and I haven’t been able to have my curls back. I’ve had a balayage done before by a different stylist at a different salon, and nothing even close to this happened — my curls were still intact and my hair stayed healthy. That’s how I know this was due to poor technique or overprocessing, not just my hair type. Our hair came out just ok, but our make up was HORRIFIC! I (the bride-to-be at the time) asked for a natural look. The girl used dirty brushed on my face and when she was done I was just a bronze mess. Nothing about the “look” she gave me was natural. She didn’t prep or use primer on my face. Just applied about a pound of cheap moisturizer. I had to wash my face after they left and redo my own makeup for my wedding. All three of us broke out after from the first make up brushes and sponges. It was a complete disaster. Unless you’re looking to be aged about 15 years, DO NOT HIRE THIS SALON!
