I never do this, but need to do this public service. We have given this place several chances and have been consistently and increasingly disappointed each time. They are so slow that it takes away any enjoyment, but that could be forgiven if the food were good. It is NOT!! I have tried multiple items over the course of several visits and not one of the items was more than a 2 on a scale of one to ten. Every dish or app I tried was terribly bland, which is completely unacceptable when you are looking for a meal with full flavor. This was not just one visit or one dish...IT WAS EVERY TIME!! It was not just slow with poor service on one occasion, or just when they were busy. It was slow with poor service EVERY TIME!! We asked for some extra napkins after our most recent meal was finally served, and literally had to wait 15 minutes to get them. We were done with dinner by the time the napkins arrived. Me and my family have given this place plenty of chances and we are finally done. I think it gets away with being terrible because it is on the main street in Moorestown and people from town enjoy walking the street and it is the only Mexican option. Way too many items on menu (even milkshakes, which were clearly some artificially-flavored premixed crap). My wife asked for sour cream with her nachos and they charged an extra $2.95, which is arrogant in my opinion. There are any number of Mexican restaurants in the area that are way better in every way than this place. It is really bad in every way. I really never do reviews, and I though especially hard about writing a negative one that might hurt their business, but they need to read this and hit the re-set with how they run this restaurant. Hopefully they will read this and make the necessary changes. Here is some free advice....First...reduce the number of items on the menu. Second....add flavor to those 15 to 20 items that remain and freakin EXECUTE on every single item. Third....you MUST hire more server help and kitchen pros IMMEDIATELY and then incrementally as your traffic improves due to the other changes you will make. Fourth....and this you can do after you start improving your cash flow...you need to make the front stoop and sidewalk area LEVEL, so the tables aren't slanted at an angle. (We thought about sitting outside, but chose not to based on the severely slanted tables).
I eat out a lot and Mexican food is my preference after Italian. I am not biased or vindictive in any way and did not undertake this negative review lightly. This is an objective review meant to help this place. I am hopeful that there will be a response and a real commitment to correcting the problems here, and I am willing to write a more complimentary review if...
Read moreI recently visited the restaurant and was impressed by the freshly made chips and salsa. The chips were perfectly salted and the two salsas had great flavor with just the right amount of heat. The option to mix and match proteins for tacos was great and the soft corn tortillas were tasty. If I am being a little nitpicky the dried lime was a little disappointing but didn't really take anything away from the overall experience. I am a huge personal fan of the use of lamb for the barbacoa. If lamb is not your jam then the birria is equally as tender and comes with a consommé that would be absolutely drinkable, if it wasn't socially frowned upon. The mixture of traditional and pop Spanish music added to the atmosphere and the rice and beans had a great texture. While the slow service has been a challenge in the past, being a little tight on staff in todays market is nothing that I can't forgive for the quality of this food. Plus, the convenient pay-by-phone option makes up for it by expediting the typical check-paying experience.
As a disclaimer to my rating, the standard I typically use for the 5-star scale is 3 is satisfactory and would maybe go back, 4 is very likely that they will see me again, and 5 is that I am bringing all my friends and recommending this restaurant to anyone seeking delicious...
Read moreFirst experience: We ordered takeout from Luna Del Sol for dinner last night through the toast app. Ordering and pickup was seamless. For anyone planning to eat inside I noticed they have set up plexiglass barriers between the tables and an employee was wiping surfaces when I arrived even though there were no diners. The dining room was very clean. I was also pleasantly surprised by the festive music playing both inside and outside. It really set the mood for our family’s taco Tuesday. We ordered fried calamari, tuna ceviche and chorizo nachos to share. All three were delicious, fresh and so flavorful. The salsas both red and green were hands down the best I have ever eaten. For dinner we ordered an assortment of tacos- shrimp, chicken, fried fish and carnitas. I’m so disappointed to say that the main fillings were so incredibly dry we actually had trouble swallowing the chicken and carnitas. The flavors were there and they were delicious but the texture was off putting. Because it was an issue across every variety we ordered and because the reviews on the tacos have been positive so far I’m thinking it was an off night and maybe someone went overboard with the reheating process? Regardless, we will be ordering again. I cannot stress enough how delicious the flavors were. Can’t wait to try more...
