I’m writing this review purely in regards to my interaction with an employee today, not the outcome of my question not working out in my favor. This was maybe my third visit to this place & I’m no stranger to antique malls. In fact, I’ve got a booth set up at one right now in downtown Kannapolis but live in Mooresville so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask about renting here also! I approached the middle aged blonde lady at the front counter to get information & particularly asked about a certain space #41 in which she replied “you can’t just walk in here and rent a booth.” The interaction was uncomfortable, somewhat condescending & her tone just came off rude. She never smiled once & explained to me that there are “certain criteria” I must meet & be approved for, etc. Ok..& that’s what I’m trying to get more information about, ma’am! She hands me a paper with the information requested & highlighted in bright yellow amongst a few other items, I noticed it says “no clothes.” So I asked about that rule confused as heck cuz almost everyone had clothes in their booth?? She said new vendors aren’t allowed to sell clothes & that they didn’t want to look some sort of way. I’m honestly baffled at that rule because if you held higher standards with how people display their booths there already with clothes in them, it wouldn’t start to give a messy look, ever! Not to be rude, but seriously, there was one booth in particular (filled to the absolute BRIM with clothes) so much so that my tiny self could barely fit let alone shop….yet that’s acceptable simply because they’re not a new vendor? LOL Alrightey then! There are quite a few empty spaces I seen while I was there the little bit of time I was ..until I decided this place isn’t all that they think they are & left. I really feel like they are losing out on opportunities for actual business over minuscule things, but it’s all good & honestly it’s absolutely 100% their loss (especially with my business in particular! ;) ) Overall, this would have not been a bad review had I not felt belittled by this woman or “not good enough” to vend there after our conversation.. as well as if maybe the booths in here were actually shop-able & didn’t look like a garage sale...
Read moreIt pains me to say but Main Street Antiques has to be the worst antiquing experience I’ve ever had. I typically enjoy shopping around and window shopping in antique stores. Furthermore, I consider myself a good customer and wouldn’t write a scathing review unless I felt it was warranted.
In saying that, the few times I’ve visited this antique store I’ve left feeling mistreated and not in the mood to come back. The problem purely boils down to customer service. While having a wide collection of interesting products from a variety of different outlets, the treatment and overall customer relations doesn’t make me want to come back. Despite the website stating closing time is at 6, shut down starts as early as 5:20 and employees are quick to rush you out, turning off lights and aggressively ringing a bell and even dissuade you from entering before closure, locking the doors.
Granted, when my family and I went on one occasion we were running late and I understand how employees who have long shifts may feel crankier than usual. However, some of our family ran ahead to apologize and as I was walking up with my niece (who is disabled and isn’t the fastest walker) the employee at the door lost her temper because we were too slow and tried to lock the door before us. I really don’t see what the rush is about on a Saturday night in the summer when lots of people come to town to explore the area and are then met with this kind of service.
Twice they were rude and inconsiderate to us and I can’t understand how the closing procedures are good for business in the slightest, especially when so many people were still looking at 5:20 when they began their unpleasant pushing people out.
I’ve tried to be understanding and reasonable but as a second time offender I only think it fair to warn other unassuming customers that this antique store really isn’t worth your time. (However the restaurant next door is quite pleasant and is highly recommended by all my family who’ve visited)
Either way if you’re visiting the area, steer clear unless you’re visiting right after they open and even then I’d be cautious of getting on...
Read moreI genuinely am in shock on how badly i was treated here. and no i am not lying (since the owner seems to reply rudely to many one star reviews and accuses people of lying. I got to the store around 5:31, planning on being in and out to grab something. The door was locked but many people were inside so i was confused. There was around 30 minutes until close, and more then 15 mins before close, which is the time they advertise they lock the doors. Someone let me in and then continued to scold me for coming in. Yelling at me as i was walking to the right “MAAM WE ARE CLOSED” over and over. I literally said don’t yall close in 30 minutes? and she says “we close in 15” over and over trying to act like she was following the sign on the door, when it was not at all 15 mins before close. I am literally an 18 year old girl who was excited to visit. Why am i being yelled at in a very condescending way for coming into your store 30 mins before you close? If you don’t close at 6 why are the hours until 6. If you want to lock doors 15 minutes before closing that is perfectly fine, but stick to it!!! don’t lock it 25 mins before and then yell at customers when they are confused why the hours are not being followed. If they decided to lock up early that day they could’ve told me this in a respectful manner, because this is a business, and should be professional. Especially because i am a young teenage girl and am sensitive. I do not think grown women should be yelling at random teenagers who did nothing wrong. If you have a good amount of reviews saying there is rude staff i think that needs to be evaluated. The lady who raised her voice at me was a middle aged blonde woman. This happened a...
