The Hubs and I really like this place. We usually get the pretzel bites and a pizza. The pretzel bites are *chef's kiss* perfect. And the pizza is always great. I don't normally eat the crust of any pizza, but these guys have really good dough. We've been here several times and are never disappointed by the service. They're always very friendly. They were having a St. Patty's Day celebration when we went yesterday, and they were absolutely slammed on both the brewery and pizzeria sides. And still, they were attentive. I saw someone in the reviews complaining about the garlic truffle fries, so if you're planning on ordering those, you should know that they do come with a generous amount of truffle oil. That's the truffle part of the truffle fries. They are tasty, but maybe a bit oily for some. So, set your expectations accordingly. The one thing I'd say is that I wish they had better beers. That's pretty subjective, of course, since everyone has different preferences. But, for us, they're just a bit underwhelming. But, despite that, this place is still a 5 star place.

Genuine New York City Style Pizza (Large Pepperoni with Extra Cheese, on a Monday*) -- I vacation in North Carolina every now and then to visit my S.O, and I've been an inhabitant of New York City my entire life otherwise -- every place I visit, I've always been on a weird quest to order or takeout halfway decent pizza. Ghostface surprised me recently, I ordered a large pepperoni with extra cheese and when I bit into it, it tasted exactly like Vesuvio's Pizza in Kings Highway (dead center of Brooklyn, a corner pizza shop). So uh -- if you have that *here*, go get some of their pizza. New Yorker approved. Imaginary pizza stamp or whatever.

I can’t express how awful it was. My favorite part is that the owner took to bashing me on Facebook when I left my HONEST review. They still haven’t tried to remedy the issue. It was the worst food I have ever tasted. It was a chip, with maybe a sprinkle of cheese and it was so crispy it made noise when you bit into it like a chip! If you want to pay $22+ for a pizza please try Alino’s or Johnny Brusco’s. And those two establishments more than likely won’t argue with you on Facebook about an HONEST review of their service!

TRENDING WAY TOWARD THE POSITIVE. I LOVE GHOSTFACE BACKGROUND I've be considering what to write about Ghostface for some time now. My family members were not impressed when they first went about two years ago. My first visit was a bit better (particularly due to the incredible "Deacons of the Deep" pizza and 6 garlic knots that was the special at the time... NOTE: the garlic knots are still there and are incredible... sadly I have not seen the Deacon pizza since then). Still, I found that the prices were a little bit hefty for my grad-student income level. Thankfully, prices have improved slightly as has my income. Therefore, I decided to try some wings tonight and could not be happier!

DRINKS: Regarding beers, the worst thing I can say is that Ghostface experiments... a lot. The best thing I can say is that Ghostface experiments... a lot. Ultimately, I love what they produce most of the time, but you will always have some choices that just "miss" your palette.

WINGS: This review is finally being written because I had wings tonight and they were incredible. The "tiger sauce" is delicious and if you prefer a crunchy wing that actually came from a chicken rather than a pigeon or other smaller bird (yes... hyperbole... sorry) then this place nails them.

If you love hot sauce that pushes your limits (and provided the owner or certain employees are present to make it) they can put together a superb, brain-gasket-bursting hot sauce for you. Not only were the four wings that I ate in this sauce exceedingly spicy, but the flavors of citric acids and chilies galore were present and noticeable before the heat wave hit. If you like HOT wings, you should seek these out. They won't send you to the ER, but you'll feel them and enjoy the taste as well.

SERVICE: The waiting staff tonight was incredible. I wish I'd gotten their names, but one of them may have been the owners son??? I'm really not sure. Regardless, he wrangled some of the "special hot sauce" for my friend and me as well as some wet paper towels which were absolutely needed after we emerged from the plate of wings. The young lady who waited on us was conversational, amicable, funny, and friendly in the unassuming and non-intrusive way that you want all wait staff to be. She was the kind of person who almost want to ask to join you at your table and while she gets the gold medal for that trait so far, the other staff at Ghostface have never disappointed me as far as I can recall.

TL;DR Ghostface had a rocky start (or so I'm told by friends and family who managed to visit before I did), but over the last year I have seen marked improvement and now I consider them top-notch across the board. Certainly in Mooresville at least, I prefer no other establishment for pizza, wings, drinks, or service.

Update! 5/12/23 - The Nashville Hot Chicken Fries were incredibly good, the best Nashville Hot that I have had outside of Nashville. I...

A business that lets staff absorb its mistakes isn’t one we can support, end of story.

My boyfriend and I visited this spot a couple weeks ago for a date night. We started on the pizzeria side, where a kind server explained that both the pizzeria and bar areas were connected through a one tab system. We ordered food, ate, then moved over to the bar for drinks and closed out our tab—confirming with the bartender that everything was included, just as we had been told.

Fast forward two weeks later, we came back for dinner/drinks on the bar side. We were surprised to be approached by the same kind server. She was visibly shaking, stuttering, and upset. She explained there had been a glitch in their system: our tabs were never properly merged and part of our tab was never paid for. She showed us the receipts and apologized prefusely. We were more than willing to make things right. I asked how we could pay the outstanding balance, but she told us only cash would work (which I never carry on me). We asked if we could put it on our current tab or a new tab so I could pay via card. I asked to speak to their manager so we could resolve the issue but she quickly diffused and said it was fine and walked away.

We felt awful. Not because of the glitch, but because something clearly wasn’t right. We closed our tab at the bar and went to follow up with her on the other side of the establishment at the pizzeria. We asked again what we could do to help and learned that the tab had been taken out of her paycheck or tips—because “that’s policy.”

As someone with years of experience managing restaurants and bars, I was appalled. Mistakes with POS systems happen. But no responsible employer should expect their staff to personally cover tabs that go unpaid due to a backend error. This wasn’t her fault. And yet she was the one to pay for it.

She handled the situation with professionalism and grace, but it was obvious how much it had affected her. And the fact that no manager stepped in to take responsibility—or even speak with us—was incredibly disappointing.

We won’t be returning. Not because of the food or the drinks, but because of how this business treats its people. No one should lose hours of their paycheck to cover for a system failure. Your staff deserves better.

As a follow up for those reading this far: My boyfriend and I stopped our date night to make this right. After closing our tab we went to a ATM, pulled out cash+tip, and went back to personally give it to the server. We shouldn’t have had to do this and it took away from our fun Friday evening after...

Poor service is why I am rating this establishment so low. Half the time when I have called to place an order, the phone goes to voicemail. There isn’t even a greeting to know that you have called a business establishment.

Secondly when I did get someone, I was asked to be placed on hold. No problem. Homegirl had me on hold for 8+ minutes and I finally hung up because I arrived to the restaurant. Again, no problem. I walk to the Pick Up Order sign in the back and there is a young chubby blond-haired young man working back there. I legit stood back there for 3 minutes while he was behind the counter and NOT ONCE did he acknowledge me.

Finally I spoke up and said, “Excuse me, you haven’t acknowledged me at all.” Mind you, I was the only person back there. He chose to ignore me. He finally said, “Oh, I don’t know how to do the registers.” And I told him, “That’s fine; however, you could have acknowledged me and at least told me to go to the front to place an order because you see that I’ve been standing back here and you keep choosing to ignore me.” Of course he looked at me like he didn’t care, which I pointed that out to him as well and then I left.

Now I’m not going to pull the race card here because I’m far more intelligent than that but he was extremely rude and naturally I don’t think other people would have gotten the same treatment I received.

I’m all around disappointed and hence I am leaving a review because the entire (lack of) transaction from start to finish was far more unpleasant, unnecessary, and unprofessional than what it should have been. Total disappointment and a...
