I have been studying at Defined Coffee for the past several weeks. I have gone in 1-2 times per week. I love the atmosphere, that they have plenty of seating and a food menu in addition to coffee and tea and don’t mind people studying and reading. After having 3 recent similar experiences, I finally decided I needed to leave a review. There have been 3 separate times that my food order has been incorrect so I’ve needed to approach the counter to try and get what I ordered instead of what I was given. All three times, the gal who appears to be the manager and works in the back preparing the food, has been the person I’ve dealt with. Each time when I’ve kindly explained what I ordered, I was met with a somewhat combative and unfriendly “rebuttal”. All three times it was the person who is taking the orders who made the error and yet each time I was given an attitude by this manager. Comments along the line of “I don’t have any orders for a BLT” while looking at me, the customer. What am I supposed to do with that? One would think she might turn to the person who takes the orders and inquire where the order is, or even better yet just say “I’ll go make one quickly for you, sorry about that!”… but instead she made it the customers fault by saying she didn’t have the order. I was speechless. So I, the customer, had to turn to the cashier and say “remember, I ordered a BLT…I haven’t gotten it yet”, as if they cannot communicate with each other. It felt as though she intentionally needed to burden me with helping her work through this. The third time, I ordered a “ English Muffin breakfast sandwich”, was asked no questions and no further information was shared with me when I ordered and this is how it is listed on their menu. When my order came up, it was eggs only on French bread and about half the size of the English muffin. I approached the counter and kindly said “I ordered the English muffin breakfast sandwich…” the same gal replied to me and said “we don’t have English muffins anymore, it’s in French bread” so I replied “no one explained that to me…and what about the meat?” She replied “you have to ask for it”, I explained that I had never asked for the meat before. She continued by telling me that if no one asks me, that it’s my responsibility to tell them I want meat. I’m assuming this is a new change as the English muffin breakfast sandwich used to come with meat and that’s why I ordered it. So if they have made recent changes to their menu (although it still plainly says “English Muffin”) then one would assume it is their responsibility to inform people of changes they’ve made, especially people who come their frequently and are expecting something different. There were no apologies, no kindness for the lack of communication, no manners even for that matter. Actually, not even professionalism. It felt like a policy of “the customer is never right” and that I was being treated in a way that would never fly in most businesses I know. I felt like I was being reprimanded. So I’m not sure who’s running the show here but management needs to get involved and maybe witness first hand how they are treating their customers. I also want to add that they are charging I think $5.19 for a bag of Earl Grey tea and 11-12 for a breakfast sandwich on French bread that is about 2” x 1.5”. I will not be returning to this establishment as they have proved to me that they do not care about my business, that clearly they think they can treat people however they want to treat them, have zero concern about the quality of their food or their service and are riding a wave of continued business despite...
Read moreStopped by for the first time today! The vibe is very cute with plenty of seating. I worked for about an hour here and it was a great environment. I had to ask the person at the register to explain the menu to me because I wasn’t really sure how to read it. Unfortunately, she was not the most enthusiastic. I also asked her if she had a recommendation for the food and she said not really. She did say everything was good. I totally get maybe not making a recommendation because you don’t know what people like but the lack of enthusiasm and her tone was not the best. I had the mountaineer coffee with oat milk. Absolutely the star of the show! Beautiful presentation and so good! I ended up with the BLT. It was okay but nothing outstanding. The bread wasn’t really toasted, just warm, and it was around $7 or $8 with no side. I would definitely come back for coffee and probably try something else to eat though. Lastly, when I got up to leave I was going to use their restroom and it was occupied. I noticed a sign that said there were changing tables in the hallway bathroom so I figured I would just go to the hallway. Just be warned that there’s not a sign when you go through that door that shows where to go to find the bathroom. but it’s to the left all the way to the end of the hall. Also, I may have missed it, but I don’t think there was a sign inside of the coffee shop that indicated you would not be able to re-enter the coffee shop through that door. If you were trying to go back into the coffee shop, you would have to go through one of the hallways and around to the front door again to get in. I ended up having to ask another business how to find the bathroom and they told me that the reason that you can’t re-enter that way is due to some issues that they had with vandalism unfortunately. So definitely makes sense as to why they are doing that. Overall I enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming coffee shop that left me utterly enchanted. As I sipped on their maple-infused coffee, I was transported to a cozy, rustic oasis where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee enveloped me in a warm embrace. The maple coffee was a symphony of flavors, where the rich, earthy notes of maple syrup danced in perfect harmony with the robust coffee, creating a delightful contrast of sweetness and warmth.
To accompany this heavenly brew, I indulged in a chocolate muffin that was nothing short of a masterpiece. This delectable delight was like a warm hug for the taste buds. The first bite revealed a moist, chocolatey interior that was both comforting and decadent. Each nibble of the muffin was a journey into a world of velvety cocoa goodness.
What truly set this coffee shop apart was its unique juxtaposition of nature and industry. The interior was adorned with lush green plants, creating an oasis of serenity amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The combination of exposed brick walls and the vibrant greenery gave the space a distinct character, where the coziness of nature seamlessly met the rugged charm of urban life.
In all, my experience at this coffee shop was a delightful fusion of flavors and atmospheres, making it a place I can't wait to return to for more of their maple coffee and chocolate muffins that warm the soul in the most...
