The Cutting Edge Salon and Spa — Local services in Morehead

Made an appointment weeks ago for massage for my daughter and I, at 2:00 and 3:00 PM today. Got text message 2 days ago asking me to confirm the times, which I did, and a reminder text today, which was fine. We got there at 145, ready to get ready and into robes for massage but alas, we were asked to wait a moment. There were no seats so we stood in the entryway. At 2:05 a woman approached us and said she was the massage therapist, that it was prom day in Morehead, and she was running late. She said she had two faces left to do and when I asked how long that meant - I did not know how long "a face" takes - she said maybe 30 minutes or more and she would see what she could do. I was very annoyed at her double booking her time and not at least having the respect to use my cell # - which was already used repeatedly to make sure we were there at 2 - to let us know she was running late. Still no seats available to sit and wait - we were still standing in the crowded entryway. When she came back to us again another 5 or 10 minutes later to tell us it would be about 30 minutes more, and I started expressing annoyance, she said: look you are both going to get your massages... IMO - people in service industries, especially those that are not necessary- that are truly luxuries like massages, should have respect for their customers and their time. There are not a lot of choices in Morehead as far as spas go, so maybe they have a captive market, and I get it was prom day and that is important to those going, but then don't take my reservation or at least send a warning text about delays. NO STARS if it was possible. Very disappointed...

This was my first experience at this salon but it certainly won't be my last. I showed Diana a photo of the hairstyle and color I wanted and she was able to expertly adjust it to flatter my skin tone and face shape perfectly! This is the prettiest color I've ever had on my hair. It looked and felt so much healthier when I left the salon and that has never happened after having it colored before. I had the best experience there getting my hair dyed an ocean blue!! The pricing is very reasonable and the ladies there have an awesome personality and I felt like family there too!! The hair stylist Genie or Jeana did an awesome job and had a smile on her face the whole time I got my hair dyed!! I will definitely go back there because they are exceptional!! If you guys decide to go ask for Genie or Jeana she’ll take care if y’all!! I can’t remember her name right off hand but if y’all ask for one of those ladies the lady at the counter can point y’all to the right direction!! I would rate them 1,000 stars...
