I always shop at Ace -- all throughout California -- for various things that I do. I purchased some tube here, and it was just plain plastic tube. Usually it would cost $12.00 for the whole thing, but, for some reason, it cost $2.99 per foot and the entire tube procurement was $55.00 with tax. Whoa! The only thing that I could think of is that, because it is in Morro Bay, people need tube for tanks or what not. Anyway, I didn't want to buy it after I saw the price, but did anyway, should I be able to make it work for my project. Since Ace did not have all of the parts that I needed, I went to another hardware store and found the same tube in a kit for $11.00 with all of the parts included. I tried to take the tube back and was told that I couldn't bring it back after I had been told that I could by the sales member when I purchased it. Luckily the Manager was gracious enough to provide a store credit for the tube, but their policy is not to even do that. It was a nice ending to what initially seemed like a sad event. My tube was pretty long, and so I know that they could resell it, and I was bummed that I didn't realize how costly it would be. Thanks to Ace and the Management there for helping me out. I realize that it must be difficult to operate a retail business profitably in this environment, and the only thing that I could suggest is absolute better communication when things will be different than before. That is my only criticism here. The place is pretty darn nice, and we are...
Read moreThe one star review is for the unfriendly staff members otherwise the store would get a five-star review The staff that work in the barn are very friendly and very helpful the staff that work in the store are friendly and helpful there are a couple staff members on site that I do not like and they need to take a class in how to handle customers and maybe take the course over and over again until they figure out how to handle a customer properly If you would like to have an attitude then have it towards the customer when the customer asks you to leave them alone because you're having a bad day or a attitude or whatever you might want to double think about that ( the employee or employees should be happy to have a job right now during a pandemic don't make the customers mad to where they don't want to come in or if they complain about you and you lose your job) I've worked in customer service for 10 plus years you don't make customers mad I'm not going to name the employee or employees but if you want to have a wonderful experience try to avoid the certain employee or employees
The store has a great selection of stuff the staff are helpful when you have a question on your project The biggest downside is the parking lot is always crowded and when you have a big vehicle it's hard to park I wish they would split the lot between the businesses and have dedicated parking for...
Read moreCustomer Beware. There's a high turnover of staff in Morro Bay Miners and it showed today. Bought a couple hundred dollars of lumber and had a 20-foot piece of facia cut to load. Got home and found chunks missing in one cut piece from strapping. This piece came off the upper deck where employees pull the pieces. I've been spoiled by barn staff that check the lumber up top. I took it back and asked to trade it out for an undamaged piece. Employees called a manager, Christopher, whose customer service experience was related in his one-liner. "We don't take returns on a cut piece." I pointed out the defects in the lumber created by packing straps and he just stared back. I realized I was talking to a corporate drone. As he walked away I told him the trip to Home Depot just got a lot shorter. I've spent many thousands of dollars over the past 40 years at Miners but I can see no need for business loyalty when there is no customer consideration. Make no mistake, there are many great employees at Miners but the managers are hit and miss, which may explain the...
