Wow wow wow. Mike (owner) is a life saver! My internet tower (200 foot) was struck by lightening and the voltage followed the line into our business office, passed through the surge protectors, and fried our business computer. There were dual mirrored hard drives as well as an external hard drive in that computer. The dual hard drives were unrecoverable. did not realize that you can’t just plug a hard drive into a new computer and recover files unless the new computer has the same operating system and bio chips (what’s a bio chip?!). I was devastated when I could not recover my computer. I mean I was, for lack of a better word, “screwed.” Everything to do with my business was on that computer system and I was desperate to get some sort of recovery! Of course I had hard copies of everything but all of that would have had to be transferred to a computer and that’s A TON of work and time!
Mike took the time to go through every little part inside of my computer, saved any and all usable parts, showed me all of the damaged parts and explained what they were as well as why they are now not usable. I had a FULL understanding of the process because Mike is very patient and explained it all in detail as he was working on it. I got a good lesson in computers over the next few days. Instead of advising me to buy a whole new setup, as he could have, he advised me to keep the usable parts, order only the parts we need in a new computer, and salvage it that way. He said it would take some time, a few days. I was okay with that. So I did. I only spent $200 and got a computer that Mike put the good, used parts into. It worked great!
When I got the new computer home to transfer old files to another computer, Mike happily took my MANY calls and walked me through everything and gave me a full understanding of it every step of the way. With Mikes help, I had my computer system and business up and running within a week. That’s a HUGE accomplishment because of the severity of damage. I was so happy I asked Mike if I could hug him and I did! I couldn’t believe he was able to recover everything!
If it weren’t for Mike, I believe I would’ve been starting all over. No other computer experts even gave me an option of going through the old computer. They just want to sell you more and more. They don’t want to deal with you if you ask questions. They don’t care to give good customer service either. Mike is a truly good guy and I would recommend him every time! He’s also really good with laptops! This guy knows his stuff and has a way of explains things to you so that you are on the same page and not just “in the dark”.
Thanks SOOOO much Mike. You saved my...
Read moreMike is great! I came to him with a broken AC adapter for my Dell laptop. I called another popular computer repair shop before going into Computer Repair and was told that just checking to see if my computer, and that alone, was broken, would cost $45 (all to run a diagnostics test that I guarantee I could do myself). Mike offered to help me test my computer’s charging ability for free. Initially, he sent me to a shop with used chargers that would’ve been a great deal, if they’d had what I needed. When that didn’t pan out, Mike ordered me a new adapter and in less that a week, all was fixed. He was very fair with pricing as well! I will be returning to Computer Repair for all of my computer issues. EDIT (2 years later): As promised, I returned to Computer Repair when I encountered my next issue with my Dell Inspiron. I needed a new battery for the device. Mike was able to find the specific battery my laptop needed and had it delivered in just a few business days. He put the new battery in as soon as I arrived and even cleaned my computer's filter. Both of these services have improved my computer's life (and my own) immensely. My laptop now stays powered on for hours and runs with little to no fan noise. Thank you, Mike. I will continue to patronize this business for as long as you...
Read moreSuper nice and helpful! My PC wasn't giving me a display, although I did have fans turning on so it was getting power. I tried many things, including reseating ram, GPU, and various cabling. Tried replacing ram and GPU, and resetting the CMOS, still no luck. Mike talked about it with me, and we debated if it could be the CPU/MOBO. He tested my power supply, and that turned out to be the issue. He even helped me find a good replacement power supply on ebay. Amazing service and good knowledge. Shop has no frills, it's straight business, which is just what you want in a computer shop. Can also get some fresh eggs there. Mike was really just wonderful, and as someone who is fairly tech savvy, I could tell that he knew his stuff, and was very...
