Petco — Local services in Mount Pleasant

Unbelievable! I have been taking my dog to them for a year for grooming with no issues. The last appointment he had was with a new groomer, she called me at the end of his appointment and told me I needed to come pick him up immediately as he was being very aggressive and tried biting her. I asked what did you do because he has never acted this way! When I went to pick him up she was telling me how mean/bad he is, which is not true at all!! He sees anyone and all he wants to do is play! She grabs these long rubber gloves and walks in the drying room to get him for me. He came running full force out of the room, jumps over the counter and sits by my feet. (She did not even put his leash on him!) After he comes running out by me she comes around the counter and trys to brush his teeth, well he was having no part of it so she gets mad. Then she trys to cut his nails, well again no part of it. She obviously did something my dog to make him act this way. So I make another appointment but request she does NOT do it and explained why. The person making the appointment had no problem with it. Well the day before his appointment guess what, I get a call from the lady I had issues with stating they will not ne able to see my dog any longer because he is aggressive. I explained again she did something to my dog...her response well we can give you a vet to take him to. What??? These people are so unprofessional! I use to take him there for everything, guess what not anymore! When I asked to talk to a manager of course no one was available. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THEM. THEY HONESTLY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO...

A younger gentleman at the Racine Petco sourced some fish that I have been looking for at multiple other local and, semi local fish stores. I searched for quite a long time to no avail but, while at Petco to get some other aquaria livestock, I inquired on their ability to find those fish and, they found some for me in just a few days! They updated me every step of the way all the way through to the pick up. The staff was great each time I went, they were always very knowledgable and extremely helpful, their tanks and livestock all looked very healthy and the prices were great too! I also picked up a sea urchin while there to pick up the fish they sourced out for me, the staffer that helped me that time was unfamiliar with proper handling of the urchin as it was adhered to the tank pretty good. She immediately let me know she wanted to ensure me and the urchin proper handling as she had not handled that creature before. She quickly reached out to another Petco expert, received the proper information and, handled it with expert care. I was extremely impressed with her level of comfort with learning something new and, in doing so she demonstrated her care towards the aquatic livestock, I could see the pride they have in...

The staff is incredibly helpful and are willing to answer questions. The groomers have always been super professional when talking with them and explaining their process. Anyone who claims that they're abusing the dogs has clearly never worked with animals before or babies their dogs so much that anything that's not coddling them is seen as abuse and needs to train their dog. Speaking of training, when talking to the dog trainer, he answered my questions clearly and simply, even offering nutrition advice later when I told my vet about it, mirrored exactly what my vet said. So if my vet agrees with the random advice from a trainer, then the dog trainer has my trust. The one thing that I have to say is that the only drawback to this store are the fellow customers. Customers who've probably never worked retail before so they don't understand that it's not the cashier's fault that there's only one register open. Or customers who come in and scream out "where you sell your dogs." If you want a dog, adopt one....
