I never post reviews but this was really frustrating. I have lived in the area my whole life (over 45 years) and the only reason i came to this location was because the scott twnshp location did not have an xray tech on staff so they sent me over to mt leb. They knew from my online booking that it was for an injury. I drove with very little visibility during a snow storm to get there and when my son and I went in i casually made conversation with the front desk stating, “I didnt even know this med express was here, “maybe bc it sits back from the rd a bit”. I wasn't being negative, I was just making conversation despite having just driven my child who was in tremendous pain with a potential wrist fracture through bad weather to get there. I was stared at by this rude front desk girl (the one that was sitting on the right with dark brown hair) who then said in the most condescending tone…”not really” as though I was some sort of blind idiot that should know they are there. I fought back my urge to ask her what she meant by that but didn't react and simply said well i normally go to the scott twshp location which was followed by awkward silence and no additional engagement while she completed a check in process. We were eventually called back over the noise of the entire office laughing and joking with each other. I saw one other patient there the entire time and we were the only ones in the waiting room. The next person who appeared to care less to attend to us after we were checked in and moved again to another room was the xray tech. She did not ask me to accompany my child but rather came and took my 9 yr old son with her to the xray room stating, you need to come with me to xray. When he came back from xray a few minutes later, he was in tears and even more pain. She didn't say anything but rather grabbed an ice pack, handed it to him and left. He then proceeded to tell me that she twisted his arm in two different directions despite him saying he was in tremendous pain and could not bend or twist at the wrist. I asked him if he spoke up and he said yes but she said “its just your arm, you're fine” and said nothing else. No cover was given. Afterwards, The practitioner that saw us and told us he sees a wrist fracture on the xray was very nice and explained everything very thoroughly but did tell us to go to chp ortho clinic or chp er if we dont want to wait until monday. The nurse that put his splint on was fabulous, gentle and kind. I have worked in healthcare hiring and firing for 25 years. I would not invest any additional training in your front desk associate that checked us in. She doesn't want to be there and is just plain nasty to people. I understand staffing is difficult these days but there is a bare minimum of respect that needs to occur between humans when you work in healthcare. I also understand that everyone has a bad day from time to time. Its hard for me to believe thats the case here bc after she was incredibly rude to me i had the pleasure of listening to her and the other girl at the desk giggle and chat about their weekend plans while I was sitting and waiting to have my son called back. The support staff need communication training. They are all massively unaware of the domino effect that caused the writing of this review. When i left i had a funny feeling and turned around to look again at the girl that was so rude to me and she was waving her arms around and carrying on. What a strange and disappointing evening at med express. Im going back to umpc urgent care. They were...
Read moreI will never take my daughter to a Medexpress again. I'm not one to write negative reviews, however, we had a very stressful experience at the Mt. Lebanon location.
I took my daughter on a Saturday November 30th around 5pm in the evening. Her primary Dr. office was closed so this was our only option. We went because was complaining of an ear ache and was coughing and had a fever for 2-3 days. The nurse practitioner who saw us, barely checked her ears, stating that her left ear was packed with wax and she just "couldn't see anything." To which I asked if she could clean the ear to see if it was in fact infected, she stated that "it looks clear and fine where I can see." She then listened to her lungs and stated that "they sound just horrible" and that she wanted her to get an immediate xray as she was "extremely concerned." I was very uncomfortable with her complete disregard with what we were also concerned with, she was also very short with us and insistent that we follow exactly what she recommended without consulting us at all.
We got the xray but I was concerned about the lack of appropriately sized thyroid cover for my 3 year old daughter. The nurse practitioner stated that "there is no evidence that a thyroid cover was even necessary when giving an xray." Again disregarding my thoughts completely.
I did request that my daughter have an adult cover that we folded so as to protect her thyroid. The nurse practitioner was very abrasive about this and questioned my choice as a parent. She then reviewed my daughter's xray with an off sight radiologist and came back to say that she could "barely see anything because of the cover" and that from what they "could" see, it was an emergency situation and that she should be taken right away to children's where she would more than likely have to "stay overnight" and that it was probably "pneumonia". We were shocked at how she was speaking to us, it felt very inappropriate and really frightened me and my husband and my mother who was there with us. Of course I planned to take my daughter anyway because I knew that she needed more care but the nurse practitioner should have spoken to us in a more professional, appropriate and calm way to make us feel comfortable and that we were being understood and respected as our child's parents.
We did take my daughter to children's where the Dr. at children's concluded that it was NOT an emergency. She was not "critical" as the nurse practitioner at Medexpress had insisted. She had some wheezing and received one breathing treatment. What most concerned me was that the Dr. at Children's also concluded that the ear that the nurse practitioner said was "just packed with wax" but looked "clear and fine" was not in fact "fine." The Dr. at children's cleared the wax and found that my daughter's ear drum was perforated and very infected. This enraged me, as I told the nurse practitioner at medexpress that I was concerned about that ear but she had brushed me off.
In the end, I am glad we took my daughter to children's, but our experience at Medexpress was so unnecessarily stressful and upsetting for now reason. I hope no other parent is made to feel so ignored and frightened by a Dr. there. Again, we will never, ever be going to a Medexpress again after...

I went in about two weeks ago for a severe sunburn on my chest that I had obtained by going on vacation. The burn started leaking pus, and my breasts were still very swollen around the burns so I decided to seek medical attention. I was seen by a male Dr. on my visit, and he said "Yup, that's definitely a burn", and instructed me to take antibiotics, antibacterial cream and to immediately make an appointment with West Penn Burn Center in downtown Pittsburgh because it was a "2nd degree burn with a secondary bacterial infection". He asked me what I was wearing to cause a burn like that, if I was just wearing a "bra or a bikini top or what?" He told me he'd send the antibiotics to my pharmacy in Bethel, and sent me on my way.
The first red flag I noticed was on my discharge papers. Instead of the instructions being clear and concise with what I was experiencing or had, it said "avoid dishwashing until the wound is completely healed". My boyfriend instructed maybe that just means avoid any activities like dishwashing that would simulate that movement between my arms. But my discharge papers also said to go seek immediate medical attention if the wound starts to leak. That's the whole reason I was there in the first place! The only thing correct about my discharge papers was that it said to take antibiotics and antibacterial cream, as he had instructed me to do. Cool. BUT;
The next day I went to my pharmacy to pick up said antibacterial cream. They did not have a script for it. So I called med express, they didn't even have it on my file, that I needed antibiotics or antibacterial cream. The very friendly receptionist asked if I'd like to speak with the dr. after he's done in the room with his current patient, and I said no, forget it, and hung up.
I had to go to St. clair emergency room that night in order to e prescribed my antibiotics and actually have a script sent to my pharmacy. Furthermore, st. clair told me it wasn't getting infected and that it was actually in thee beginning stages of healing. I mentioned how the med express Dr told me how it was getting infected and I'd have to make an appointment with pittsburghs burn center, and she said to me "No, since it's healing there would be nothing they can do for you."
Ultimately I should've just gone to st. clair hospital, and I suggest you do the same. The wait staff and nurse who asks you the pre-exam questions at Med express by Dunkin are the most friendly people I've had the pleasure of meeting. However the dr. seems to be quite forgetful and also just plain .....
