Today was the last day I will go to the Sundance Saloon. Over the past ten years, every single time I have an interaction with the owner, she has been consistently rude and abrasive. Today when she tried to charge me for tap water in a cup, and I clarified I did not want the bottle of water, she slammed down the bottled water on the counter, and told me I could pay $3.50 for either, she didn't care, but I would be paying for the water, if I wasn't drinking alcohol. I don't drink alcohol. I hadn't even gotten to the point that I was ready to buy a lemonade. I told her I'd been to her place 4 times and had gotten water in a cup for free every time, she told me that I had run into the wrong bartender. I walked away and told her it was illegal to do that. She yelled at me to go ahead and call the police. I walked back over to my friends, told them what was happening, and looked up the information online to show her. ITM, she walked over with her bouncer, told me that if I didn't like it, I could leave her establishment right then. I told her I didn't like what she was doing, but I had told everybody anyway. She then kicked me out with bouncer in tow. Over WATER! My friends tried to talk to her, but she would have none of it. I told my friends to stay because we love that band and wanted to support them. Each one of my friends has since told me that if they had to do it over again, they would have left with me. They were going to go to the October event but all are now boycotting this establishment. BTW, EVERY person I have talked to has been shocked by the charging of tap water. They have all responded that there are other places to go. If you want to say upfront that you have a "1 drink MUST buy minimum", then you need to say that at the door. There are LOTS of other places to go with actual smiling customer service. Go...
Read moreVery disappointed - I have been going here for YEARS. Usually Wednesday was ladies night. It's not any more which is fine. A $10 cover with a free drink coupon isn't too bad. My problem came as I was there last night to celebrate my daughters birthday. I don't drink at all so I gave her my drink coupon to get 2 drinks & just asked her to get me a glass of water. We walked to the bar together & she asked for her drink. The bartender looks at me & asked me what I wanted. "Just a glass of water please" - she starts to walk away, turns around & says "a bottle of water right?" - I said no, just a glass of tap water is fine. She proceeds to tell me I MUST order a bottled water, she won't give me a glass of tap, I can use my coupon to pay for it. At the same time my daughter (who had used 1 coupon now for a mixed drink) asked for a glass of water. The bartender VERY RUDELY says "NO, you can't have a glass of water now that I know SHE wants one" and refused to give her a glass of water too. I'm horrified. I was not trying to ruin business or anything, Just wanted a glass of water. The fact I was not able to be served that (even ordered food too by the way) - was one problem but worse was the attitude & disrespect by the bartender. I will think twice before EVER going back there again unfortunately. At least till they have some nicer staff... Still could have a ladies night or something. $10 cover on Wednesday doesn't...
Read moreHaving never been to Sundance Saloon I went to the website for more info to find out about a cover charge and Friday night couple dance lessons. Did not get enough info but still decided to go, out of curiosity. Got there at 7-ish Friday night. Walked up to the dance floor entrance/register area and talked who I assumed was the owner/manager. I asked about not being able to get more info on the website. He immediately got defensive and copped an errogant unconcerned attitude about this being my first visit and said the cover charges change every night and if I had a problem with a cover charge I probably wouldn't buy any drinks. I was absolutely stunned about the lack of welcoming hospitality and arrogance and proceeded to correct him saying dancing makes you thirsty and when you leave an unfinished drink to go dance you go buy a fresh one after that dance!!! Having just come back from a visit from Texas and experiencing their clubs, THIS place is definitely far removed from that culture from hospitality as you can get!! I was slapped back into reality that YES I am in Illinois!!! Ugh!! As a post script, we were planning on coming back for the Saturday night '8 Track' concert WITH FRIENDS and ready to drop big bucks!!! As a result of the unwelcoming rudeness, we went elsewhere and spread the word about my horrible experience. Accordingly you couldn't PAY ME to dance at the...
