Crossroads Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Illinois

I have been going here for years with my friends from Saddlebrook Farms. Usually the service was pretty good. The food is hit and miss. But tonight was outrageously bad. We had a reservation at 5 PM for 7 people, but no one was working to seat us. So after waiting awhile to took a table in the corner. A man I think was one of the owners asked if we were the reservation, and we told him we were. Then we waited and waited. I had to flag down someone to get the menus. Finally our waitress came and took our drink order. Her name is Morgan. We asked for separate checks. She took the meal order and that was it. When we got our checks there was an addition of $7 as a tip. That was fine for my check as my husband and I had a bill of over $40. But one of our guys was single and had a bill of only $14. He also had a tip added of $7. When he asked about it Morgan said it is on the menu that because we asked for separate checks there was a charge of $7 per check. I never saw that on the menu, and like I said we have been going there for years. Well let me tell you we are not going back any more. That was something we all agreed on. Sat outside on a busy day, my friend and I understood saw how busy it was, and we were willing to wait since we heard good things about this place. After some minutes, I tried to get the attention of a waitress by saying excuse me, assuming maybe she forgot us, but she looked at me for a good bit then walked in the other direction, and avoided eye contact with me after that. I tried with another taller waitress too and they walked directly passed us. We never got a menu or asked what drink we wanted after 20 minutes, while that first waitress was asking the tables next to us if they wanted another drink and if they were okay. I had another friend who coincidentally went with her boyfriend that same day an hour later, just as busy, and sit at that same table and they experienced no problems like we did. Not sure why we were being ignored by those two, but we were and opted to leave where we would be helped instead of seeking someone else or going inside. I would hate to think it was because my friend and I were the only people of color while everyone else around us was white, but I would hope...

I've always loved coming here to eat and enjoy the outdoors while having lunch or dinner the service was always excellent. I've even played volleyball here over the summer. This last Sunday I went to get a drink and a bite to eat with my cousin. We sat at a table outside and we waiting to be attended 10mins pass, 20 mins 30MINS AND NO ONE came to our table to see if we wanted drinks or menu. I went to the bar and order a pitcher of beer sat back down thinking someone will now come to us and NOT ONE WAITER CAME to check on us or if we needed anything for the hr we were there to finish our pitcher. Did I mention I HAD TO GO AND GET AT THE BAR. I have NEVER IN MY life had horrible service, I always understand when it's busy but it wasn't even busy at all and the waiter would just pass by like thing. I felt so disrespected.
