I've successfully repaired my own phones and laptops for years. I had a particularly difficult repair on my MacBook Pro and this was a situation that needed more help. AppleCare ran out on this laptop a long time ago, so I thought I could attempt my own repair.
I was getting coffee one morning a couple doors down from Phone Techs and noticed someone coming out with an Apple laptop. I had no idea they worked on laptops, let alone Apple laptops.
A few days later I decided to bring in the laptop and explain my situation and see what happens. I was greeted by James, who was incredibly patient and friendly. He seemed to genuinely appreciate the details I was providing and after I basically admitted defeat on this repair, he was very gracious in his response. James was clearly listening to understand, not to respond.
James did an excellent job in setting expectations with the repair. He explained the various scenarios and his own experience with this model of laptop. He did a full teardown and was able to diagnose the problem. He followed up exactly when promised. Turns out the problem is with the logic board and while it could be repaired, James was kind enough to point out that economically, it wouldn't make sense to pour any more money into this device.
James had every opportunity to upsell and manipulate the situation to make a fast buck. Instead, James clearly demonstrated his high integrity and had my best interests in mind throughout this entire experience.
I came away with what I was looking for: a clear diagnosis. But I also came away with a new ally in my repair efforts. James and Phone Techs have earned my trust and I'll definitely be back when I have other repairs. I experienced friendly service from an expert that clearly values...
Read moreMrs. Elsa Martinez is really great at what she does. I’ve been to Phone Techs over 12 times and she always completes her tasks. Everything I give her that can be repaired always looks new when I receive my items back. If the item is beyond repairable, she will research the exact item or close to it and can have a refurbished item within time. “I have never been disappointed nor dissatisfied every time I have entered her business.” As long as Phone Techs is around in my neighborhood, I will have every phones, IPads, gaming computers, etc repaired by Mrs. Elsa Martinez. Thank you Elsa. She owns her own business. Phone Tech is her local small business in Murrieta. She is the Boss. The prices are awesome. She is very honest. If the product is not repairable, she can either have it replaced with products she has in store or can or a new one for you. James is also an employee for Elsa, who is the main person who fixes PC’s. He did an exceptional job. Thank you James! And thank you Elsa! I will be...
Read moreIn order for wireless devices to communicate with each other there needs to be a set of standards. WiFi or wireless LAN is classified under the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers ) 802.11 standards. The IEEE standards have been certified by the WiFi Alliance – a nonprofit organization created to certify IEEE 802.11 products and to promote them as wireless LAN standards.
There are a variety of WiFi standard categories: 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax.
Most wireless devices now use the 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.1ax standards. These different IEEE standards represent different speeds, GHz frequencies, bandwidth, and indoor ranges wireless devices use to access the internet.
The latest and greatest WiFi option is WiFi 6, based on the IEEE 802.11ax standard. It’s significantly faster than other options, so if you’re looking to upgrade your existing WiFi, that’s what we recommend...
