The Market District Giant Eagle store was very big, and the shelves were neat and fully stocked. My husband always gets chicken breasts from the hot/prepared food section. The ones they had in the case were beautiful! Really nice and big. However, the clerk went to the back somewhere and brought his 3 chicken breasts out in a foil lined heat bag. When we got home & he sat down to eat, he pulled out the 1st breat and looked at the others, and they were honestly the smallest, puniest chicken breasts we've ever had! This was the 1st time we'd ever been to this store, & I'm the one who convinced him to go there!! I'm of the opinion that "Market District" stores are kind of a step above all others. Well, clearly, I was wrong. I had a broken ankle and sternum from a bad fall, so I didn't go inside with him, but when we got home & he showed me the chicken, I was really surprised! I was so happy for him to go there, because I was CERTAIN he'd be impressed with the chicken breasts. I love it when someone I suggest something to is happy with the experience. We don't live in the area of this particular store; we just happened to be in that area, and when I saw the sign, I told him to go there! The prices at this place are higher than our local store's are. My husband was impressed by how pleasant, personable and efficient. He also told me that he liked how clean...
Read moreI'm surprised by the variation in vegan options here. Which is what I came in for on this most recent trip. At times, the vegetables area seems pretty sad, mostly empty, like it was this trip, but even when full, the produce is acceptable - not great. I also enjoy the section of an aisle that has local options from other merchants. It's a great idea.
For eggs, and a few other things, I will only buy from Costco in bulk due to the price per dozen here, but this seems more in line with other grocers. During the warmer months I rarely buy from this place as it is still just a big corporation (giant eagle) and I would rather get my food from farm markets and/or...
Read moreThey redid the whole center about a year ago and they didn't really make it any better. The Giant Eagle, now Market District, isn't any bigger, just reorganized and more expensive than before. In the plaza there are other business like Fox's pizza, a weight loss business, a dentist and rooz booze that sells a good selection of beers but with a but higher prices. The parking lot is large and it can get a bit messy in the busiest times as people...
