Causeway Watersports — Local services in Nags Head

Today we had the opportunity to take a jet ski tour at Causeway Motors. The owner Jamie reviewed pricing and appropriate paperwork to be signed which allowed us to feel welcome at his newly acquired business that he recently took over. He gave us good deals on our swimwear shoes to protect us in the water. His shop had a variety of clothes, sunglasses, fish gear, etc for patrons to feel and look cool while riding jet skis! The tour guide and safety instructor John did an excellent job going over detailed information about safety rules and operating jet skis properly. Cameron, our tour guide assistant did pre-checks on the jet skis prior to us operating to ensure they were safely working mechanically. We took an early morning tour with 3 others for a total of 5 patrons. The tour path selected was about an hour long across beautiful territory - views included homes 🏝️🏯on little islands sitting in the ocean which were a site to see!! We also had the chance to dolphin watch more than once on the tour - pausing to view three times!! 🐬 It was such an enjoyable and memorable first time jet ski experience for us despite my driver and I capsizing once lol and me as the passenger falling off again lol 🫣😆 Even with me tasting saltwater for breakfast twice 🧂🌊 this morning - I couldn’t have asked for a more alert, cautious, and safety-abiding tour guide team to help us flip over our ski and reboard properly at the back/stern of the ski and for making me feel comfortable (and found my shoes 😆) when I fell off again before we proceeded again with the tour. The other patrons were just as supportive along the way too! Thank you for a wonderful first experience - we look forward to coming...

Awful experience. As others have mentioned, they do a terrible job at communicating here. There was no mention of a zero tolerance policy of being too close to each other. They did ask us to stay a certain amount of space apart. I saw that my eight-year-old was upset on the back of her dad‘s jet ski and I stopped to ask what was going on. It was very choppy and windy and hard to hear. We were both idling in the water, several jet ski lengths away from each other, when an employee came up and signaled that our time is up. I told her we had an hour, thinking that she had us confused with someone who had booked a half hour. She sped away toward the dock to get a grown-up. The owner came out and told me we were putting his property at risk and if the jet skis bumped into each other he would have to charge us for any repairs, that they are $12,000 and he would have to charge us for that. I’m not sure how a business like this can operate without insurance, but apparently that is the case here if customers have to pay out of pocket for any damages (also not disclosed anywhere). We were on the water for about 20 minutes of the 60 minutes we paid for. We rented 4 jet skis and the 2 other jets skis not involved also had to leave. The jet ski tour was the best jet ski experience we have ever had. If you want a top-notch jet ski tour of the Oregon Inlet and surrounding area, this is the one to book. We covered about 50 or 60 miles over the hour and 15 minute ride and saw fantastic views of Oregon Inlet, Bodie Lighthouse, and the Roanoke Sound. Our tour guide, Gabe, did an awesome job of making sure we were safe at all times and at the same time gave us a thrill of a ride out and back. Our favorite part of the tour was whipping through the Oregon Inlet grass areas with tight turns, all the while gunning it to your specific abilities. Gabe made sure the whole group could maximize the fun while keeping everyone safe. If you want to have a jet ski experience while at the OBX, this is the one you want. All the skis were new with low hours. It's an absolute blast getting on the flat water and going up to 50 MPH! If you are considering renting a jet ski, do this tour!!
