Where do I start?
How about the beginning…
I found myself choosing Binny's Beverage Depot although it was somewhat out of the way. I figured after a long day’s work, it would be worth-while to make the trip up to Binny's for the larger selection. I settled on selecting a new beverage that was not yet stocked in neighboring stores. I went to register one for check out. The cashier rung up my purchase order and I was fairly sure the item I brought to the counter was a sale item.
After the item was scanned I made simple mention of just that. A lady in her mid-forties with dirty blonde hair and glasses grudgingly offered to walk the store for a routine price check. Erica came back and reaffirmed that the price was indeed what was rung up. To my chagrin I apologized to the cashier and asked to have the single item purchase order voided. I went to the back of the store and grabbed an alternate selection. Upon walking back up to the check-out line, I find Erica is announcing loudly to her co-workers and the store front my price check was clearly displayed and that I was more or less an idiot etc. for having been mistaken.
Never have I gone in to a place of business and been blatantly insulted. Taken aback by the condescending remark, I chose the third check-out line where I believed I could check out and proceed about my day unscathed from further insult.
The cashier who was originally in the third check out line pulled her drawer. Who else but Erica is there to ring up my purchase. I am greeted with a warm sneer or some type of unpleasant facial tick.
Round 2
I initiated the conversation by thanking Erica for her "kind" offer to run the price check for me earlier. The response I received was, “WELL, WHAT PRICE DID YOU THINK IT WAS!” At this point customer service is completely lost on her.
I found myself having to explain why, “I thought it was a different price point.”
Out of habit I pulled my Binny’s card from my wallet and presented it to the disgruntled employee. Erica snapped back with, “SALE ITEMS ARE FOR WINE AND SEASONAL SELECTIONS ONLY!” I didn’t find that to be an accurate claim, but I am not going to argue.
Conclusion
I was simply being a customer in a place of business. If you want to go and ruin what is left of your day after work then by all means- go to Binny’s and speak with Erica.

One two separate occasions I was overcharged for a Coors Light case of aluminum bottles. This happened both last week and today. The manager I spoke to about this last week assured me that she would immediately correct the issue.
I walked back in today and the sign for the price was still the same! And of course the price at the register was again higher than the advertised price on the shelf. I had to again get a manager to correct this at checkout .
I then asked to speak with the manager for the store. I explained what happened to him and he seemed to be confused and told me that I was correctly charged for the product . I had to explain to him multiple times what happened , and wait for him to go back and do his own investigation .
He came back and assured me that this mistake would not happen again. I told him that I was told that last week--and it's still happening . I asked him how many people have gone through and paid more for this product than they should have--how much money has this store made off of people paying a higher price at the register than advertised ?!?!
I asked him for corporate 's contact number told him that I will contact them on Monday and file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney...

Got to the store to pickup the wine, middle aged white guy at the service desk was rude, speaking to me as if I've never visited the store and had no idea of how to pickup wine. Right, I've never been to this store before. Had to pay before picking up the wine. Middle aged white women cashier had a growl on her face like she didn't want to be bothered. She didn't exchange not one word with me as I handed her the pickup order form. When she gave me my receipt it took effort for her to say, "Have a nice day".
Younger white guy who was there when i encountered the old guy and brought me the wine, was very polite. As a Black middle aged retired police officer who have endured many surgeries defending people and businesses on duty I'm troubled by these attitudes. I didn't fill welcome here, in fact, very unwelcome. I will not return. If you don't feel welcome at an establishment, spend your money elsewhere. And to think if a situation had happened while I was in this store I would have defended it. I stand for everyone! Stand Together equally!
BTW. I love the Plainfield and Montgomery Binnys stores. Great Service, diverse and...
