There is no excuse for a store manager (Tom) to treat a customer as rudely as I was treated. To begin with, I asked for a manager at Customer Service. When they called for him, he asked the employee what I wanted. Really? He was qualifying the customer to see if it was worth his time? Not that he was particularly busy, since after my unpleasant exchange with him, he stood around loudly joking and laughing with the cashiers for at least five minutes. I had purchased an item (shower curtain hooks) at the other Home Goods store in East Naples. It was obvious from the torn packaging that it had been returned or some customer had carelessly ripped it open to inspect it. Also the label was half torn off. I approached the cashier at the East Naples Home Goods to ask if it were on clearance since I found it on the clearance shelf but with no red label. She tried to check but couldn't because the date was torn off the label. She called for a manager at my request. No manager in the store, only a supervisor, who came over, did not smile, did not greet me and said no it was not on clearance. She did not even offer a measly 10% discount for the condition of the packaging. I purchased the item anyway. The next day I took it to the Home Goods on 9th Street in the hopes of finding an actual manager to determine if it were on clearance or they would discount it for the condition of the packaging. So this brought me to interacting with the poor excuse of a store manager, Tom. No greeting, no smile, no how can I help? I explained what had happened in the East Naples Home Goods, and asked if he could check to see if it were clearance priced or could at least adjust it for the ripped packaging and buying a product that to me was obviously returned. His response was no it was not on clearance, and he would never take back the item at his store because of the condition of the packaging. It's my understanding that any item purchased at a Home Goods store can be returned to any other Home Goods store in the country. When I said this, his reply was nope, not at my store. Not in that condition. I said well the other Home Goods store had no problem selling it to me in that condition. He said then you should have asked for a discount. I said I did ask for a discount, but no manager was on duty, so could you give me a discount? He said nope, not my store, not my problem - and I won't take it back at my store. I started to walk away and he said loudly OK, it's obvious you want to return it, so I'll take it back. Huh? I never said I wanted to return it. Why would I be asking for a discount if I wanted to return it? I obviously wanted to keep it. So I refused the offer to return it and walked around the store. I looked at their shower curtain hooks and ironically they had the same one in perfect packaging. I probably should have returned the one I had and then turned around and bought that one, but I was so infuriated by his rude treatment that I decided to just return it and leave the store. I went to Ross and bought much prettier curtain hooks on clearance. I don't know what's going on with Home Goods employees. I have found them consistently rude over the past few months. In contrast, the employees at TJ Maxx are always courteous and always pleasant, and they overextend themselves to be helpful. Same parent company. Two different cultures. I understand it's hard to find good employees these days, but there is no excuse for a rude, thoughtless, incompetent store manager who lacks personality and...
Read moreDear Homegoods Corporate,
we tried to return items at Parkshore Plaza Shop Ctr., around 103:30am 5/8/22 that we bought at TJ Maxx Carillon Plaza originally couple of days ago, but we had hard times to do so even after in fact these items were carried by Homegoods store, then we ask for a manager and got the same excuse answer couldn't accept them. We have done these many times before both at the same stores or vice versa. A customer, older lady, shout "I'd to return a blouse I purchased at Marshall please" sarcastically and she was super loud as entire store could hear her, management did not say or do anything about it, my wife & I were so embarrassed in public yesterday. We bought 2 identical lamps, we told a cashier that they're identical night table lamps, she insisted they're not the same bar codes/SKUs. I've never treated in any businesses like it before, we felt so discriminated over these. We've decided to never come back to your establishment ever, until you reprimand the manager also cashier young lady. They were at cashier's desk yesterday. She was cashier #3 & manager #1, if I was not mistaken. We would like you to follow up about the incident please, then we will decide if we will ever shop again at your...
Read moreI don't buy much from this store the way other people do, but I was thrilled to find some retro white PLU and chrome chairs for my kitchen. I have learned that if you find something here and think you want it, BUY IT when you see it or it may be gone the next day. I wanted four chairs and when I returned the next day w/the bigger car, they had sold out of most of them. I think they started out with 16 when I got there. It's a madhouse in season so I try like crazy to avoid going in while the snowbirds are here. The line for checkout can snake all the way out to salesfloor this time of year. John is one of the guys who recognizes me. He's an older gentleman with a moustache and is always helping his coworkers and helping people load their furniture purchases into their vehicles. He is one of the nicest men I have ever met. I was just in, and he was carting four bar chairs and a couple of other pieces of furniture down an aisle when he saw me, then immediately asked how I have been doing (he's known I have not been well for a few years). I didn't want to stop and chat because the store was crawling with people, but the fact that he's able to recognize someone as he's busting his butt to say hello means a lot. Just a...
