If you go anywhere around fish, game, and guns in the store don't expect to get much help. When you ask questions to the people behind the gun counter they seem bothered and put out. They don't actually have to learn product to sell you anything. You have a firearms expert who builds guns but, his attitude is horrible. Every time I see him there I avoid talking to him, because he's old and doesn't really care about the retail business or his job. I expressed my views to the manager Philip who seemed to not care. He also begin to explain to me why his staff was some of the best around in that department, and gets compliments all the time. My complaint would be a first yet, one search on google says different.
I don't see how barely anybody in that department knows the product they're selling. They have a complete lack of care for what they do. The women who was showing me a pistol was to busy practicing her draw moves with a pistol in her hand instead of showing me one. They do not make suggestions or qualify their customer at all, they just sit there and hand people guns when they ask to see one. If you don't like the way it feels then they put the gun away and go back to what they were doing rather than show you something different.
You have a management problem at this store, the manager does not care about your customers experience. I could see what I was telling him was of zero concern to him when he started to make excuses for their actions. Then when he turns the tables on me and says, "your complaint would be a first". I have been going to this store for years and have watched this go on, and I can no longer stand it. I am tired os searching for help when I go to this store, especially in the hunting department. I’ve been to Academy many times (never this location) and always have great service, but the service at this specific store brought tears to my eyes. I am a single mom who was shopping for Christmas presents for my family with my 2 year old daughter. The employees were waving and smiling at my toddler, asking if we needed any assistance, very helpful and kind. The store was clean, organized, and well-stocked. I would’ve been 100% satisfied with the customer service if it had ended there but it didn’t. When I was ready to cash out a young lady Alexis was the one at the register. She asked me to hang on a moment and called for someone on her earpiece. After a few seconds this gentleman Tom came out and gave me a $50 gift card. I was completely floored. He told me that I could use it now or later, and that he doesn’t have any family so he does this every year. He explained that he told Alexis she could choose who received the 2nd gift card & she chose me. It did help me financially since I am a single mom, and was using a lot of the money I had left on trying to finish Christmas… but it did so much more than that. It showed me that there truly are still good people in the world. I left there so humbled and happy. Tom and Alexis: your kind gesture did not go unnoticed or unappreciated! Read moreWhile I have never had a great experience at this location, I have never had as negative experience as I did yesterday. I had ordered a shotgun on line to be picked up in the store. I followed all of the directions to wait until they contacted me to arrive and pick up. I had to take off work to go to the store. When I was informed it was ready for pickup I took off work and went to the store. I checked in, paid my $10 back ground check and went to the back and filled out all of the paperwork. I was then informed that sorry, we can enter your information in the system but you can not pick up the gun at this time. We will call you when you can. This is not because I have any kind of a back ground. I purchase a gun about once a month as I love collecting. I was told the system was down and had been down for over a day. What I want to know is why did they say you can come pick it up knowing that I could not leave with my purchase. Now, I have spent the money (yes they have debited my account) and I have lost a day of pay and will have to lose another since no one else can pick it up. I would be more understanding if the system had just gone down but they knew of this issue before telling me to come to the store. This is not good customer service.
