We booked this place strictly for the reviews. Because we all know that hotels are extremely sketchy these days. So I always feel gross when I have to rent a room that someone else used and someone other than me cleaned. I first appreciate the contactless check-in. No bad attitudes or weird/awkward conversations. That was extremely nice. I also loved that quiet time was posted AND ENFORCED! This place had minimum traffic in and out of the building! They also offered a few snacks and water in the room. That was a very nice perk!! The colors and modern-ness of the entire building are a really good concept. However, the brightness of the decor comes with extreme meticulous cleaning. Which leads me to my complaints. We rented the classic king room. The carpet is a geometric pattern that is light gray and filled with dirty spots all throughout. The carpet through the building needs a good shampooing, probably once a month. The bottom of the shower was filthy and needed a good scrub with some bleach. And so did the tile floor in the bathroom. The humidity in the room is so high that I'm surprised mold isn't starting to form. We even opened the outside air vent to help neutralize the air in the space. It brought it down, but it was still very high. Both my husband and I work in the HVAC industry and would highly recommend a dehumidifier if the fan speed on the thermostat is gonna be locked. I will tell you that their bed is probably one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in at any hotel... ever!!! I didn't wake up unrested or hurting. Also, there very little counter space....and no storage. Both my husband and I had to take turns in the bathroom because there was not enough space for both of us to be in there at the sink together. And there aren't very many outlets. We had to unplug the lights and the clock so that we could charge our phones and watches. So be prepared for that.
We wanted to try the Lucky Duck but it was closed and that sucked because we spent quit a bit of time trying to find the front door and making sure we didn't have any drinks at dinner because we were gonna hang out at the hotel for the rest of the night. But that was a bust! And after traveling to Louisville and spending the day in the sun, we just wanted to chill out at the room and at the bar next door. This info needs to be updated, especially if it's promoted on your website and in your guide in the rooms. There is a small ice maker in the lobby downstairs and cute little coffee/ tea bar.... and even a photo booth. Overall, this hotel is at the top of our list of places to stay whenever we are...
Read moreLeaving an honest review for this place is the right thing to do. I'm assigning 3 stars strictly because the location is great and the service we received when we cancelled our reservation was very professional. Now for the reason we left this place.
We arrived at the property around our scheduled check in time. The property shares a back lot with a store next door. Being honest, it looked like it would be a little sketchy at night. I lived in this neighborhood for years and knew when and where it was ok to be. We took our bags and checked into our room. A little irritating that there's no elevator to the lower floor for people. There is an elevator for bags, but that's just a hassle. Without bags, I'll use the stairs all day long. But with bags, a real elevator is nice. Got to our room, and it seemed ok. Not amazing, and definitely a little tired looking. The pictures you see online are from when the rooms might have been fresh. I quickly realized there was a bigger issue, though. We got one of their suites, and it came with a sitting area with a love seat and sofa. The problem was that both of those looked like they had been pulled in from the curb somewhere, and it looked as if someone had urinated on a cushion on each piece of furniture. Maybe it was water, maybe something else. The problem was that it was NOT acceptable to sell as a suite costing over $300/night. I called the number and got someone on the phone very quickly, which was appreciated. The person I spoke to was very professional and was incredibly helpful. She gave us options on choosing a different room (but nothing like what we had reserved), or take a full refund, which we opted to do. The biggest problem with all of this is that the person I spoke to was FULLY AWARE that the sofas had been soiled when I called. She claimed a previous guest had done this and that they were in the process of replacing them. Why, then, would you rent that room? This is a major issue that the owner obviously needs to address immediately. Again, the person who helped me on the phone was great and very apologetic about everything. Luckily there was an AMAZING room available at Drift Hotel just down the road. The room was cheaper than The Gallatin (even with the daily parking rate), and the room is MUCH nicer, bigger, and well appointed. Also, the onsite amenities are truly 4 star worthy. And there actually people onsite to help you! The convenience of The Gallatin is nice, but I think they need to continue to work on their...
Read moreIt's a NO. Rough area, multiple beer bottles in the parking lot all weekend because there is not a single employee on site - and NO security guard. If you walk in the area you'll get approached a lot. (Note Nashville itself is really wonderful! We're going back - just not to this hotel.) But repeated knocking at night on our door and trying our door handle was scary. Then we heard it happen but with girls laughing and running away. Not only disruptive, but we were worried they were going to do it to a room where they'd get hurt. We watched to see who kept doing it. There were 5 little girls doing what normal, unsupervised kids do - but annoying AND dangerous for them. There's no one THERE at the Gallatin to easily manage such situations. I called the number and the lady answered saying why can't parents control their kids - okay, true, but I told her I'm not going out looking for the parents. She said she'd have to think of how to figure out who it was. After waiting another 20 minutes (the noise etc. had gone on for some time before someone trying our door and my call) I texted the hotel emergency number and said "I don't want to be mean but I wouldn't come back over this." She said they have video cameras - those work for proof AFTER an event, they're no help during a problem. You get emails beforehand telling you about the quiet zone of 8pm on and a warning in the room (meaningless since those who let kids run wild or come in drunk really aren't caring) and you have to send a copy of your driver's license when you book a room before your reservation is complete. (Is there that much fraud/crime in their building that you have to prove who you are ahead of time?) The room cost $246. We were told it's an intro price, it will be 2 or 3 times that. I appreciate that part of the room cost is donated. It would be good if they post what percentage or how much was donated overall, at their sister property if not this one. You don't feel happy about posting a negative review and truly, I gave this some thought. We DID like the bright red decor! But if I'd known there is no security on site I'd have booked us in a different hotel. I've never had all the quiet notices and requests for identity proof for a booking - but then I've also never heard of a hotel not having at least one employee and/or a security...
