I love shopping at Macy's. I have limited experience shopping at Macy's Backstage. I had to use the Ladies room and at Plaza Bonita, it's located in the Backstage. On the way out, I saw some cute workout pants and took them into the fitting room, which just happened to be unattended at the moment, as are many fitting rooms within Macy's. I didn't like the pants I tried on and so hung them on a rack outside the dressing room when I was finished. I found a really cute wooden box for $1.99 as I was leaving, turned around and walked the length and breadth of Backstage until I found the cashier desk. I was greeted so rudely by the cashier, who grilled me as to whether I was going to pay for the luggage I took into the fitting room. I told her it was mine, and she looked it over carefully before saying "You are not supposed to bring luggage into the dressing room. What did you try on?" I said I tried on a couple pair of workout pants, but that they didn't fit well so I put them on the rack outside. She just glared at me for a few seconds, an I got the feeling she was insinuating I had stolen something. I said, "Apparently, Macy's has a different standard for their regular salespeople than it does for Macy's Backstage. And by different, I mean lower. I don't want the box." I walked to the nearest exit. And the reason for me dragging a suitcase? I had surgery in May and couldn't carry anything heavier than 6 pounds. The spinner suitcase made...
Read morePreface the fact that I've shopped at Macy's since 1978. So with that being said, this review is judging Macy's against all 32 other Macy's I've shopped at over the past 3+ decades and 8 states.
The good. It looks and functions like any other Macy's.
The bad, it's in South bay San Diego, so it's lacking in customer service. It's the only Macy's where the store clerk will walk up to a man lost looking for purses. Ask if they can help you? You say please and thank you and they retort with hold on I'll be back in 5 minutes. So 5 minutes later the same conversation repeats same result, she's got to do something else be back in 5 minutes 10 minutes later the conversation repeats.
So in 40 minutes you've asked to help me 3 times each time I accepted the offer you run off somewhere for 5-10 minutes.
I'M BEING PUNKED RIGHT?
So I left all I wanted was some female input, I'm trying to buy my wife 3 coach purses. Is it so hard to get some random chicks opinion especially since you work here.
Let's face it, it's southbay. I know it's hard to find good talent here that's why I can't give it a 1 star. Btw this was around 3pm Monday December 17th. So no it wasn't busy with a bunch of other customers.
This place simply sucks. I'm heading to mission valley. Good luck bario Macy's more...
Read moreI'm giving a 5 star rate for Olga in the women's perfume department. She gave me an excellent customer service. Very friendly and caring for her customers.
I had gone upstairs to the men's cologne department to buy a gift set. The sales person a mexican lady with peach colored lips and a denim blouse gave me a bad service today around 4pm 5/29/25. Trying to talk me out of buying the cologne that I wanted and while speaking to me, she would cut the conversation and interrupt the other sales person with her customer. She tried to convince to buy a cologne by age and I told her the age But she gave me the cologne that smelled like an old man. She was very unprofessional. She was also giving me a higher price than what I had seen online. I don't understand why she was so hesistant with providing the cologne that I already knew that I wanted. I decided to walk away as I was going by downstairs women's perfume department Olga offered to help me out. Very friendly and lovely person. She immediately went upstairs for the cologne not thinking twice. She Apologized for the inconvenience. She gave me the price I had seen online without even knowing or asking if I had seen it for less! I highly recommend asking for Olga when trying to...
