Zales — Local services in National City

I've been a customer for zales for 13 years. I have always been satisfied with the service provided to me and my wife. However, today, my thoughts toward the store might've changed. I came in for a ring re-size. Benita, the zales rep instead of providing me the quote, quickly told me to walk over to another small jewelry kiosk down the aisle. (Different store). This other store seems shady from the start. And it proved to be once I was told they can't guarantee my ring would weigh less after getting resized for bigger size. I then proceed to walk back to zales and ask benita again to give me a price to resize my ring. The first thing she asks me, how much they charge you? I told her it doesn't matter how much they charge me give me zales price. She then gave me an outrageous amount of over 220.00 for one increase size. Ok. My question to zales is the following: Since when do you allow your employees to push customers to other stores and when providing a quote since when do you ask how much other stores charge before providing a price? This is all shady, and it seems that benita and that other kiosk store are in it together. I encourage the store to provide good service to its customers. We shop at your store because we trust your store. Today, you lost a valued customer, and I ended up getting my ring resized at Kay jewelrers for less than half of what you or benita I should say charge me. I have to say, out of all of the places I have been a customer at, the level of thorough, transparent, and authentic customer service I received here from Derek was some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. From the initial phone call, his aptitude to fulfill the services I was requesting, and his quality assurance of a timely completion was exceptional.
