National City Volkswagen Service — Local services in National City

I always come here and love their service and they treat me wonderfully, until today. I had a service rep by the name of Max Smith and he treated me awfully. He was condescending and a price pusher. I look really young (20-24) so he spoke to me as if I knew nothing about cars and suggested things just to up the price point. When I pointed out that half the things he named were not needed nor what I asked for he got rude and very combative. If my car wasn’t in dire need of an oil change and I didn’t have rapport with this specific location I wouldn’t have even trusted leaving my vehicle there. Once I brought up my long history with the location, only then did he decide to go through my vehicles history to understand why I needed the things I was asking for. I can’t believe I was treated like this and was handled this way. I needed additional work but opted to only get the oil change today because of my fear or leaving my vehicle with him being present. I made a future appointment for my higher priced services and requested he not be my service rep online but I am questioning if I’ll be coming back going forward. It’s so sad bc this is my 2nd Volkswagen and I was planning on buying a third and gifting this one to my son but now I’m considering another brand. The way he belittled me was outrageous and downright disgusting. I hope he reads this so he can understand how impactful his words and actions...

I’ve been meaning to post this… Nick and service team are great. I was on the waitlist for a catalytic converter for 6 months and nick kept checking for me quite often and communicating with me on when it was coming in. Also they found my extended warranty when Kearny mesa Volkswagen couldn’t find my warranty for the last 7 years and KM VW was where I bought the car. I took it to a reliable mechanic in north park most know to fix all my families cars and the said they could fix it when really they didn’t have the tools or right parts to fix it as it was cylinder misfires… so at a different time, I took it in and was put with Nick and his team again and they got my car up and running. The other North Park mechanic shop fixed my car and it kept breaking down even after I paid to get it fixed. I don’t know Nicks last name but he works in service. I have had nothing but great reliable service here. Yea it may be costly but it’s reliable here and they use nothing but premium parts here especially in a city where Volkswagen repair shops are...

My wife & I have had US VWs since 2006 & love them. A piece of that is occasionally due to a dealership’s personnel.

I do recognize I chewed up a lot of your harried time with countless questions and recommendation requests. Taking the time to answer my questions & ensure understanding was gracious and professional. I feel like a valued owner and am now a dedicated customer to NCVW.

Finally, that you knew immediately the potential cause of that embarrassing noisy squeak (2023 Cross Sport) was impressive. Thank you for having it silenced. Oh & I installed a mid-muffler delete pipe for a bit easier breathing & sound.
