New Era Barbershop — Local services in Naugatuck

As Im sitting here right now, Carlos is cutting my son Kyan’s hair. We came in as a walk in becauee Kyan was having a rough morning, I decided to treat him to some macarons at The Loaded Goat and then get his hair cut next door at New Era. Carlos has never cut his hair before, but he immediately made him (and me) comfortable. Not only did he ask me AND my son what we both wanted, he proceeded to make small talk with my son While cutting his hair; asking him his name, grade, and where he grew up. Carlos doesn’t know that my son is autistic and has trouble talking to strangers and even making small talk, plus suffers from an anxiety disorder. He couldn’t get a hair cut without screaming and crying the whole time just a year ago, nor could I brush through his hair. He made the process seamless and I am almost in tears I am so happy. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming my son and making him feel so comfortable. You truly have no idea how much your kind gestures mean to some, and how far a simple soft hand and voice will go with others.

I didn't think I'd find a good barbershop close to home but I'm glad I found this place. They seem to be very well known in the community and it shows. The barber I use, Ronnie, knows exactly what he's doing every time. Appointments aren't required but if you have a particular barber you like cutting your hair then I highly suggest getting their number so you can confirm if they're busy or not. When I first went I was greeted warmly and even offered since ice cream cake to enjoy while waiting for a chair to be available. Had a great experience with bringing my son to get his hair cut, hes just turned 3 so its very difficult to get his hair cut as he fidgets.. he was being so difficult for the guy doing his hair, and the guy still had so much patience with him. The owner (im guessing owner) with the long beard came out to finish him up, and was extremely patient with my son. Like really went above and beyond to make me not feel bad about my son being so difficult. Definitely recommend them to anyone in the area looking to get their hair cut.
