I just moved to the area from Phoenix and I have had two massages in two weeks. This was the second attempt at finding a massage therapist. The Sunroom decor is amazing. I loved all the local products and all the healing options. It's warm and inviting and I was so eager to experience the massage. The massage was fair priced but the therapist was aloof. This could just be her demeanor but I didn't feel any connection. The service felt transactional and that was sad. In my opinion, it's because she's an employee, no personal investment in the business. This is not the owner's fault, it's just how our society has decided to be as an employees. It's really heartbreaking and why we moved to be in community. This wasn't a fit only because I seek a soul-sourced entrepreneur who is invested in their service. Be that owner or employee. I just expect more and because I too run a healing service, I feel I can be candid about it for the owner's sake. So much is done right and the store is so unique I will shop there for healing remedies made by locals. That's my vibe for sure....

I've been going to The Sunroom for about 5 years now, buying beautiful plants and pottery, and getting wonderful massages from Leiya. I just heard that Leiya will be stepping back from doing so much massage, which made me really sad! But, earlier this week I tried a massage with River, and it was exactly what I needed. My body can't handle super deep tissue trigger point type massage anymore, but I also generally don't want a super light touch. River is very strong, and gave an amazing massage that relaxed all of my muscles without me ever having to hold my breath from pain. I got so relaxed that I fell asleep a few times, which doesn't often happen, and I'm feeling great today - the effects are lasting. The Sunroom is a gem in Nevada City. This is my go-to spot for gifts and self-care. They have gorgeous potted plants, local jewelry, candles, medicinal elixirs, lotions, and salves. The place smells amazing and it is a really lovely to browse. Leiya is super knowledgeable about the plants in her shop. She always points me in the right direction in terms of picking out the right indoor plant for the right location. I've also had the good fortune to receive a massage by her and she is very talented.
