I want to review this masterpiece of a store because it's a very gnarly place.
First off the selections of games throughout the store are top notch. Tons of titles from vintage gaming to newer systems. Not only in game form, but in console and accessory forms as well. Second, the price are most excellent. Most everything is at a "buyer's price". Unfortunitly alot of store owners are clowns these days actually go off eBay prices for their inventory. Not Fames For Gold. They go with a prices that make you want to whip out your wallet. Third and lastly, all employees there may not be knowledgeable in everything. Understandable, not everyone can be. We aren't aliens or robots (even though that'd be cool), so what Games For Gold does is have employees that are rich in knowledge in certain areas. Somebody may have brain in Super Nintendo, where another may have great brain power in movies. Others may be able to chit chat about accessories. It just super neat-o to have employees that are deverse in different areas of the business all working together.
The only downfall to the store (which is very understandable to as of why) is that their trade in values aren't ones that make you smile. However, to get the better prices on the items you want, rather then bend you over the counter and pork you hard with eBay prices, you have to be willing to accept the mini flaw to get the best.
So with that said, I've lived in New Bedford, MA for 4 years now and I'm an avid collector of weird kickass toys, old school awesome video games/accessories, rare and fun VHS, and odd #1 comic book titles. With that said, go to Games for Gold if you're a geek like me. You'll be happy you did!

Read moreGames to gold is at its core is equally and experience as it is a store. Being the only store in the Newbedford / Dartmouth area to buy and sell retro video games as well as current gen titles it dominates the market while at the same time having a down to earth feel.
Games to Gold cuts the ties of the current corporate videogame industry that has consumed the market. Such businesses such as gamestop have an overwhelming feel of profit over consumer satisfaction.
At other retailers you get the impression of being pushed into buying some seasons pass and other times repeatedly guilt ed into buying or renewing their store card.
You could always go to amazon or other online based websites for your retro gaming needs, but with price combined with shipping you end up paying far more, and you lose the added security of returning a faulty product to a web based retailer.
The store itself has an atmosphere that screams to a gamers inner child. It has that nostalgia from the displayed boxes of Nintendo Powergloves to the Virtualboy. The store is the definition of Nostalgia.
Games to Gold is a store run by gamers for gamers. Satisfying those looking for an unbelievable deal or those looking to add to their collection.

Read moreUsing my girlfriends account for this review since I don’t have a gmail account. My son and I came into the store about a week ago with our Nintendo 64. I called prior to confirm they had AV wires in stock and asked if I could bring my console in to test. I was immediately greeted by Hector and a coworker who were both very kind and began to test out my console. While we looked at games I noticed hector taking apart the console. To my surprise he was cleaning out the system that probably had never been cleaned in the 20 years of me owning. I noticed another customer asking questions and one of Hectors responses was “we don’t normally do this, I’m doing this out of a courtesy to the customer” referring to me. That small kindness did not go unnoticed which is why I am here today giving this well deserved 5 star review. For the first time in 20+ years I could press my Nintendo 64’s reset button. Thanks again to Hector and his coworker! And hope this review convinces anyone not sure to go to...
