I’m only giving 2 stars because there are more options here than Trucchis. My daughter went shopping in the Tarlkin Hill Rd this afternoon. She grabbed some Sargento Baby Swiss cheese and some Boars Head Roast beef for dinner. Needless to say, our dinner was ruined. The Roast Beef was old, dry, grainy and the texture was off. The worst part about it was the cheese. We opened the package and there was mold. Literally on every slice. The date was good, but the cheese was not edible. I know they let pallets of perishable goods sit in an aisle waiting for someone to put them in the cooler, They do that with ice cream, frozen good etc. I have worked in grocery stores before. If the dept manager brings a truck to the floor and there is no employee to stock the cooler it sits. I also know that mistakes happen. Quality control is supposed to be the number one priority. I also understand that stores are understaffed. If the store is understaffed then you don’t order as much. Perishables should not sit out on a truck/pallets waiting for someone to show up. Also, the outside of the store was horrible. The trash cans were over flowing, and hornets flying everywhere. Trash was littered everywhere. One of the men collecting carts stopped right in front of my car, pushing 4 carts, and just stared at us. It was very uncomfortable, as I waited for him to cross. I parked and he was still standing there staring. I understand equal opportunity employment, but if an employee needs supervision, then that’s what they should have. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be returning. Shaws is cleaner, there has never been an issue, the store always looks staffed, employees friendly and the food is always fresh. I’m really not one to pick on things, but there needs to be quality control and cleanliness is necessary. I’m totally disappointed. Thankfully we had other things for dinner. Moral of this review: hire people who knows how to run a department. Don’t order as much food if there is nobody to put it away, just to make the shelves look full, and if the people who collect carts need supervision (empty the trash, keep trash cans clean, act appropriately) then get them...
Read moreThe self check out system was updated recently & now has an awful weight requirement process for every single item scanned. It's almost impossible to use self checkout now without needing assistance from an employee every time your bagging area is full. It seems self checkout is intended as an express line only now. If you have a full cart of groceries that Won't all fit in the bagging area at the same time you're going to be needing an employee to come over & override the forced "help is on the way" screen numerous times which can take a long time when busy. It took us over 45 minutes, 3 employees & finally the district manager just to get through all the computer related issues we encountered trying to checkout with the new system. I'm not computer or tech illiterate, in fact quite the opposite, I excel in the tech area so I typically get the hang of how a new program works very quickly. I never had issues with the old system prior to update. I discovered many shortcuts & ways to use self checkout which allowed me to save a lot of $ over time, all without breaking the law or store policies. The new system is terrible, unless you only have a few small items to scan I would avoid it. If I have to go back to stop & shop again I'll use a regular checkout line with a real person, something I haven't done at stop & shop in over 15 years. I prefer market basket anyway, they don't have any self checkout, the employees are respectful & all your groceries are bagged for you every time & most of all the prices are much lower & the selection is greater & of a significantly...
Read moreI'm not even going to sit here and list all the problems I'm just going to say the foreign company that now owns stop shop has ruined a New England name brand. The prices were always high but they always had staff they don't now because they're not willing to pay for it why are you and me checking ourselves out and not getting a discount on it?
Second time this week nothing is price right, second time this week there's nobody on the registers, second time this week that nothing's in stock, second time this week I've noticed some price changes on multiple items.
The peanut butter that I've been buying for 10 years at stop & shop in the last 3 years alone it has gone up over $2 and it's still going up. Inflation is coming down but foreign companies don't care about that.
I said I wasn't going to say it but... And I don't know about the other stores I know their price is going to be high but I do know about this store and this store is seriously slacking when it comes to good management or any kind of management because I don't even see that and I feel bad for the employees.
A foreign company owns this and they don't care just like a foreign company owns Dunkn and a foreign company owns Cumberland so that's why all the prices go...
