Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in New Bedford

I hate having to give two stars and I debate on only giving one but because I actually love the Caesar salad from here I get every time I felt I should at least give a star for that. A great salad makes my day but bad customer service ruins it every time! Every single time (and I do mean every time) I order a delivery from here they forget my edible straws. Not only is it super disappointing to get my food and see that that’s not in the bag but it’s also extremely annoying that I actually have to pay for them and they just never show up. I actually went as far as the email a manager about this and instead of apologizing sincerely and offering me some sort of reparation to fix the issue she was passive aggressive and blamed the door dash driver. So the more likely a story she is trying to push on me that every single door dash driver i’ve ever had delivered food from there is involved in some kind of underground edible straw smuggling operation and in no way could it possibly be that her staff just doesn’t care enough to actually package all of the customers delivery orders correctly. I frequent this location offen they have great food but I normally go inside. This 1 time I used drive -thru today is 3/4/23 at exactly 1:30pm I was in shock by what the staff did, I ordered a bunch of stuff for my co-workers and I made a mistake but it wasn't a big deal they fixed it (I called a Bahama Mama a Mango Madness) now my total was 46$ and change I paid np while I was waiting for my food I got out a 5$ bill to tip (I consider myself a good tipper I always tip) I randomly checked my bank account moved some $ around and I see 53$ from T.S. so I check my receipt and apparently I already tipped them 7$ I was in shock. When I asked about it I was brushed off like staff saying she must have pressed it by accident. That shizz don't happen by accident you had 2 to 3 other options to pick from. You were going to get 18% if you didn't press that button. Is that not considered borderline stealing not very happy with this location if your using drive-thru please check your receipts. This Tropical Smoothie location is one of the ONLY healthier fast casual options in the north end, and it’s always busy because of that fact. Folks complaining in other reviews have obviously never made a smoothie before, preparing the food takes time, because it’s actually made with real ingredients.

The service and food have always been good and consistent. Most of the employees have also been there for a long time, which really describes how this place is being managed correctly.

The secret is to order on the mobile app. Never do the drive thru because you never know if a minivan mom is going to be in front of you with a 5 smoothie order with 3 orders of food, and then expects the food to come out in less than 2 minutes.

Prices have gone up, but they are very consistent with other fast casual places in the area.

The most annoying part about Tropical Smoothie is that they use styrafoam cups for their smoothies, that’s more of a corporate (they are based in the South) issue rather than a franchise issue, so I am not going to fault...
