Modern Ethos Piercing — Local services in New Cumberland

I originally came in yesterday for a belly button piercing and my anatomy was assessed standing up and sitting down. Shelly explained to me that I do have the right anatomy for it but the problem is that when I sit down my navel collapses and if I were to get it pierced I have a high chance of it becoming irritated constantly and then it leading to an infection, migrating, or rejecting and she wasn’t comfortable doing that on me. Completely fine by me as I had a hunch from the research I did on belly button piercings that I might not be able to get one. I decided on getting my septum pierced instead because I have been wanting it and I loved that she showed the different jewelry and explained all of the different ones in detail. She did a lovely job with the prepping and easing my nerves before and throughout getting it pierced as I was nervous (not of the pain) to get it pierced. Shelly is very sweet, welcoming and easy to talk to which made me feel comfortable because I typically have a harder time talking to people. The environment of the shop very cozy and not to mention this place is VERY LGBTQ+ friendly which is AWESOME!! The pricing is VERY reasonable for the high quality jewelry that is on display and I will DEFINITELY come here again when I decide I want more piercings! HIGHLY recommend getting...

I don't normally write reviews, but I just had such a good experience at Modern Ethos that I wanted to share for anyone else that might be in a similar situation. I had been interested in getting a nostril piercing for awhile, but I'm a huge needle-phobe and could never bring myself to act on that interest. Well, lately the urge had been nagging me again, so I looked for local piercers that had good reviews, and Modern Ethos fit the bill, so I made an appointment.

Shelly was so helpful in walking me through the whole process including picking jewely, aftercare, choosing the location of the piercing, and of course the piercing process itself. She assured me that it would be super fast. And let me tell you, she was not kidding! Seriously, I never even saw the needle, and it was over before I barely knew it was happening. And my last piercing experience was in the mid-80s at a Claire's with an earring gun, and this was a million times more comfortable. And once the jewelry was in place, I couldn't even tell it was there.

Today is the "day after", and all looks great. I am just so pleased with the whole experience and the end result. If anyone is considering getting a piercing of any kind, do not hesitate to make an appointment at Modern Ethos -- you will be...

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Modern Ethos Piercing and Fine Jewelry!!! Shelly is incredibly knowledgeable and educated in her area of expertise. I have never felt more comfortable in a studio and she put all of my 10yr old daughter’s anxiety at ease. Shelly is amazing with kids! Since they operate by appointment only, it was just us there. We were able to take our time, ask questions, and choose the perfect earrings. (All jewelry used at her studio is made in the USA, aside from some jewelry they purchase from Canada. All jewelry is ASTM approved implant f-136 6AL-4V-ELI titanium.) Shelly only uses single use hollow needles instead of piercing guns, so we knew everything would be 100% sterilized properly. She had a very informative consultation with my daughter and even required her to sign her own consent (giving her a voice and allowing her to feel empowered- which I LOVE). Everything went so smoothly and my daughter couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day! We celebrated with ice cream at the adorable Hanna’s Ice Cream Shoppe right under the studio.
