My daughter and I stopped here for the first time after passing it many times. That first time we both loved our drinks. Her's was an almond milk latte and mine was a coconut milk matcha. We have stopped by several times since with no problems although she didn't enjoy her coffee quite as much as the first time. Our visit today was not positive at all. She ordered my matcha and placed her normal almond milk latte order as well. The only way those orders could be placed was by having the employee call the manager who had to translate exactly what my daughter was saying. There were three visible employees and none of them had a decent grasp of the English language. The drink the employee originally attempted to make would have made me very sick as I cant have coffee or dairy and and she attempted to use both instead of matcha and a non-dairy alternative. My daughter's order was wrong and she couldn't drink her latte because it tasted terrible. My goal with this review is not to trash this business as the people I have met that work here have all been very friendly, but you can't conduct business well if you have no one on site that can understand the language spoken by the majority of your customers. Consistency is also very important if you want repeat customers. Hopefully this review will help to alleviate...
Read moreWe have been to Zhaga a few times now. Very cute space and delicious food. The staff and actual dining space have a few issues. First of all, the majority of the staff doesnât speak English, which is fine, until you try to place your order and the girl at the register has to rely on another bilingual customer, or call the manager to translate. They are all extremely friendly, but I think itâs a very strange experience to have to stand there and wait for the person at the register to call someone on speaker, repeat your order item by item, then listen to the person on the other line translate while you have everyone in the cafe staring at you because itâs so loud and takes so long. It took nearly 15 minutes just to place an order for two people. Our food took forever, came out at all different times, and almost all of our items were wrong. Also-there is no ventilation in the building at all. It gets very smoky, Sometimes they open the front door to get some air movement, but then itâs freezing cold inside. I had to go home and change my clothes because I smelled like fryer oil. I love the food, but for the price and how difficult it is to even order, Iâm not so sure this will continue to be a regular...
Read moreWhat a gem! Hidden behind the original food truck, the new permanent location is chil and fun - with a variety of seating (sofas, cool chairs, tables for 2 to 8, or a coffee table). But the FOOD is the absolute star! You can hear the empanadas in the fryer, the clatter of quart mason jar drinks being made. The Bakery cases are filled with beautiful muffins and cakes, the cooler stocked with old school bottles of Coke and Kola. We got the mini beef empanada - the corn shells was crispy, not greasy, the ground beef was flavorful, and it comes with two dips - avo/mayo and a salsa (in little bowls with little spoons- so cute!). Both dips were cilantro forward, but tasty! The tostadas weren't on the menu, but ask for them! Crispy, not greasy, and thick- not tiny little slices, comes with a mayo/ketchup dip, and has maple syrup on the table too. The garlic parm fries came in a cone tower with a little ketchup bowl, had lots of parm sprinkles. The spinach, mozz, pesto panini got a "banging" review from our teenager. A huge glass bottle 1.5 pt of aqua Panna was $3. Oh- and the background music was authentically Colombian... last but not least- the women here were FABULOUS! Kind and patient... Definitely...
