SIDIBE 2 AFRICAN RESTAURANT — Restaurant in New Haven

To be fair, I only ordered one entree, to-go. It was the Banku and Okra Meat Stew. The stew was full of flavor. Being an okra dish it was very slimy. The okra was cooked down to where it was almost indistinguishable. The rib meat was tough and mostly inedible. It was possibly goat meat. There was very little edible meat and it was not very tender. Mostly, it was bone and gristle. The biggest issue I had with it was the small shards of bone that were in the stew. The pieces of rib were mostly about two inches long, but they were sawn in an indiscriminate fashion so that there were slivers and bits of bone in the stew. I crunched into one of them. I was very careful eating it after that! I did not care for the bland, doughy Banku. It is not spongy or flavorful like Injera. I'm not going to give up on this new restaurant! I intend to try different dishes in the future. I'm sure that there are other dishes I will like. I'm sure I will like other African flavors based on the stew I had. I used to eat at Cafe Adulis in downtown New Haven and really liked their Eritrean and Ethiopian food. I see wooden plates in pictures....

My friends and I ordered this on DoorDash and honestly we were so disappointed. First we ordered waakye with fish and eggs and beans. The dasher got to the restaurant and they called us to tell us they ran out of waakye so they had to replace it w Attieke. And then they called us again to mysteriously tell us the waakye was somehow ready within 5 mins. The food arrived and they only gave us meat instead of the fish we ordered. They were so stingy the sauce and waakye, we had to eat the rice with barely any sauce. Don’t get me started on how tasteless and tough the meat was. They couldn’t even compensate us with how they treated us. The food was relatively okay, but ordering it through DoorDash is a mess and they need to hire someone to help...

They are just okay nothing much! Just manage your expectations and you will not be disappointed. Ordered four packs of Hausa koko and paid in advance, I got there the following day to pick up and the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about, they ended up wasting my time and sending me home empty handed and then delivered the food later on! I opened the container to dish out some koko only to find it very lumpy and very unattractive. I called to give them a feedback and was dismissed because they were busy!!
