I LOVE MY HAIRDRESSER !!! Erica is amazing. I went to her for the first time to correct a low-light that came out more strawberry blonde than brunette on my naturally blonde hair. After 3 minutes of knowing me, asking questions about my vision, and describing her vision, she landed the PERFECT color. She encourages honesty and wants to be upfront about the services she provides BEFORE doing anything because she wants her customer happy. She even said, "I want you to like it, but I also want it to look good because your hair is my advertisement. It's a symbol of me and my work so I have to nail it". So, she cares about you and her job. Honestly, I wish I came here years ago when I moved here. I started at Aveda and although I liked my colorist, it wasn't sustainable to pay $130+ on a color/cut every couple weeks. Erika is affordable and AS TALENTED as any of the colorists I've ever had. I'm moving back to NYC and told myself I will return to NOLA every couple months to ensure she continues to do my hair and enjoy this city. I highly recommend her for blondes and ombre. Not to mention, she is bubbly, funny, modern, and intelligent. Our conversations are always silly! She's become a friend now.
As for the shop, the energy is edgy, fun, creative, and really casual. It's a perfect location in the LGD/uptown and parking is easy since it is on the street. Weirdly enough, I think the hair-washing chairs are the comfiest chairs I have ever sat in (EVER). Appointments are easy to book and I can usually schedule an appointment that week. I would recommend this place to any tourist and local. Hope you enjoy it...
Read moreLove love love the atmosphere but won’t lie…we had a quite disappointing experience. First, & I mean this in the kindest way possible, it would be hugely helpful to specify what a child’s haircut means. Age limits, etc. I have a 10 year old, but he does have thick hair & so I braced myself for the possibility it may cost more than the $25 specified on the stylist’s profile. He wanted it a little shorter. No biggie…but it ended up being $60. With tip, it was way more. Again, it wouldn’t have been a big deal if it would’ve been an actual haircut & not a haphazard trim with long, straggly sections that I had to clean up at home. My son is very shy & polite so it wasn’t until we got home that he burst into tears. Also, there was a stylist that was going on & on about “effin’ this & effin’ that” in front of my kid & loud enough that I could hear him downstairs. Wow. NO. We aren’t prudes & goodness knows we hear those words. But that was over the top, inappropriate, & hugely unprofessional. Just because TikTok, OnlyFans, & Social Media broadcasts inappropriate subject matter without shame doesn’t mean it’s the norm. Or if Stardust supports such a laid back attitude, perhaps make it clear before parents think it’s safe to visit. Had we known, we would have passed & that’s totally cool! We’re clearly not the kind of clientele Stardust caters to & that’s fine. Absolutely fine. We know for next time. It’s a neighborhood salon & we would’ve loved to have supported it, though. Maybe another time. For now, we’ll...
Read moreThere should be a 10 star option at this point because Aly deserves all that and more for what she did for me. I've been having a hard time in general just life stuff and I needed to just feel good about myself honestly. After a year and a half in the city I finally googled “best salon in new orleans”, went straight to Reddit (I know but hear me out) and booked an appointment. I was immediately relieved to see that their pricing was “tiered” so that meant that regardless id be able to afford to get my hair done. I had to cancel my first appointment and I was able to reschedule with zero problems. I even missed my street car the day of my second appointment and she was so understanding. I'm always a bit nervous getting my hair cut, I have actually called places and asked if they have anyone who is comfortable cutting my hair texture just to have the phone hung up on my face. Aly actually made a point to reassure me that there is nothing wrong with my hair and that meant a lot to me. There is a short supply of kindness in this world so to be shown that on top of leaving the salon feeling better than I left because my curls are shiny again truly made this the best experience I've ever had...
