We walked in the door and were immediately enveloped in the smell of freshly made waffle cones; heavenly. We had been looking for real ice cream since we arrived in NOLA Thursday afternoon and this is THE place. We stopped by last night but they were closed due to making some upgrades but we were told to come back today and that it would be worth it; it WAS! We were given samples of their decadent flavors; chocolate, roasted strawberry, toasted coconut and speculoos, to name a few. I chose the Speculoos and Chocolate (in a delicious waffle cone) and my boyfriend had the Mexican Hot Chocolate and the Creole Cream Cheese flavors in a cup. The portions are very generous and priced just right. Imagine a rich chocolate where you can 'taste' the delicate flakes of chocolate in every bite and that is how I would describe their chocolate ice cream; it was by far THE best chocolate ice cream I have EVER had, hands down. Give them a try; you won't be disappointed. If we were locals, I know where you could find us at least...
Read moreThis place is a relaxing chilled out vibe, cool little rear patio ares if you want to hang out when the weather is nice. The first thing that hit me when we walked in the place was the awesome smell of brown suggar and butter cooking. Great location with plenty of nearby parking, where it should not be a concern if you are driving to this location. I can only imagine the gentlemen that served us was the owner, because he took great pride in sampling his creations, and explaining the ingredients. For example I am not a fan of cookie dough, but after sampling it I was won over...this place elevated ice-cream to a gourmet meal, with the cooks combination of ingredients it was a delight change of flavor profiles. I was fortunate to order my ice cream on a waffle cone. The cone was the true treat of thos experience, it was not to sweet, not to crisp, but perfectly cooked someplace between crisp and chewy, with a hint of vanilla. I think I have found a go to spot for relaxing and some high quality ice-cream...hats off...
Read moreParish Parlor is a small-batch ice cream parlor which specializes in classic French-style ice cream and seasonal sorbets along with offering Vegan and alternative milk-based options. Parish Parlor is located in the New Orleans Lower Garden District about 8 minutes and 2 miles away from the French Quarter at 1912 Magazine Street which is one of the busiest commercial arteries in the area. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and dense the ice cream here was. This is some of the best ice cream in the New Orleans area although it does come at a bit of a premium. They have a very interesting selection of flavors and unlike some other area ice cream and gelato joints their ice cream has very deep and intense flavors Overall if you love full flavored ice cream that is a pleasure to eat then you should make a visit to Parish Parlor
