Azure Gourmet — Local services in New York

This store looks like it has a wonderful selection of items, but I wouldn’t know because my service dog was denied entry.

I was told pets aren’t allowed which is fine because my dog isn’t a pet - he is a service animal. The manager/owner came up to me to let me know dogs are not allowed because “we serve food here. What if the inspector shows up?” To which I replied “the inspector can be here without a problem. My dog is a service dog.” The man demanded I show him an ID which I am not obligated to have under ADA law, but that didn’t matter to him. I told him denying my dog access because I didn’t have what he considered the “required ID” was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and is considered discrimination- he didn’t care. I really like azure gourmet! I live a block from it and they have a really unique selection of foods, sauces (for Asian cooking!), and gluten free options for my celiac partner.

I ordered a toogoodtogo from them once as well and they were really generous! The prices there are reasonably good and their produce are fresh! I bought a giant bunch of kale recently for 3-4 dollars.

Their cashier's are also really friendly :) I haven't tried their deli yet but definitely will. Hope you'll check them out and support...

I wanted to pick up my order from TooGoodToGo, went into the store carrying my dog (a service animal), and the guy started to shout at me to leave the premises as pets are not allowed. He didn’t even asked me if that’s a service dog, what other stores do. And the dog was not WALKING in the store.
