Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this review after yet another last minute cancellation/bait n' switch therapist offer, 1.5 hours before I was due to go for my massage booked weeks prior.
History: In 2022, I started going to PRESS because it's in my neighborhood. Started off with a wonderful massage therapist (Jonathan) and had two appointments with him, before I was told he was switching days and would no longer be available at a day/time when I could go. OK, switched to another therapist, can't remember her name. She was good, but once again upon booking my second appt with her (was attempting an every six week schedule) I was told she wasn't available, and did I want to book with someone else? Frustrated, I agreed and went one more time. And then once more, when I tried to book I was told that therapist was not available, but did I want to try someone else. So I stopped going. I am one of the most low maintenance massage clients around, so I know it wasn't that I'm a pain in the butt on the table. Just seemed to be indifference on the part of the therapy practice.
Flash forward to a few days ago ... went to the PRESS site, thought I'd try again. Jonathan is still listed, but not at the Greenpoint site, apparently. So I went with another therapist who looked like she had a good, solid background And then on Saturday, at 4:30p came the inevitable, "oh, your therapist is feeling under the weather, but we can offer a 6:30p with another therapist. Interested?" I couldn't believe it. Cancelled, asked them to purge my credit card info, will never go back.
I see PRESS gets good reviews, and I don't think the quality of therapists is the issue. There's something else going on (mgmt related) and IMO no way to run a business where clients typically like to develop a rapport with one practitioner who works for them, and carry that forward. This place can't manage to do that for me. Those who keep giving positive feedback to this place probably don't care about this, but I do.
(to note: I have a cousin who's been in massage therapy for more than 20 years, works at Naturopathica out in the Hamptons. They would NEVER run themselves like this, or they'd lose their celebrity clientele in a heartbeat. Obviously PRESS isn't Naturopathica, but even some basic consistency...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI received a generous gift from a friend of a 60 minute massage at PRESS Massage. After some big life changes, I decided it would be a great time to find some relaxation and relief. I booked my appointment in Greenpoint with Krystina and I cannot say enough about how glad I am that she was the who did the massage.
First let me say, the space is beautiful and so relaxing. You get a private room and everything from the moment you walk in, puts you at ease.
The receptionist was lovely and when it was time for my appointment, Krystina took me to the massage room. We discussed the information I had put on my form, as well as what had been impacting me lately. She heard everything I mentioned, and instantly gave me comforting words and knowledge. I cannot comment enough on how she has the most warming energy and I could feel her genuineness and authenticity. It is beyond obvious that she loves her craft, cares about people, and is extremely knowledgeable about her work, because let me tell you that was one of the best massages I have ever had. I have a lot of stress stored in my hips, shoulders, and back, and she found all the spots that needed attention. She is pure MAGIC and is fully a healer! I cannot recommend going to press for a massage and specifically booking with Krystina enough. She is the best kind of vibe and thank the universe and other higher beings for putting this human on the planet! I got a fully body massage and I feel so much better after visiting! Thank you Krystina and PRESS for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of my worst nyc massage experiences and I have been to plenty of massages. Service was lackluster and the massage itself was not good. Felt like I was just being pressed on instead of being messaged. It was so bad I was hoping the massage would be over soon.
At the end of the massage- instead of being asked how the massage was, the masseuse Sara proceeded to come over and asked if I āneed assistance as to how to tipā. No word on the actual massage itself.
Bare in mind thereās already a very obvious sticker taped to the massage room door regarding tip info.
I was reminded twice verbally of tipping and but asked zero times regarding the massage itself. Overall felt like they care more about money than how much their clients actually enjoy the experience.
