Good gym, with excellent facilities and always impeccable cleanliness. However, my complaint is directed at the reception staff. I have been a YMCA member since July 2024, but I was absent in October and November, which led to those months not being paid. When I returned in December, I was told that since I hadnât officially canceled my membership in the system, I needed to pay for those months. I explained to the receptionist that I had been out of the country and asked if there was another way to handle the payments. She assured me that she would contact the gym director to see what could be done. After reaching out to him, she told me that I only needed to pay for one of those two months, which I did. I had no issues accessing the gym during that month.
However, in March, Ms. Laveringe began stopping me, claiming I had an outstanding balance. She would check her computer, verify everything was in order, and let me pass. This happened at least six times. On April 9th, she stopped me again, saying I owed several months. I reminded her that I had already spoken with another receptionist and that we had resolved the issue. She replied that she was the director and didnât remember the case, but that she would check it. She asked me to wait for 15 minutes, and finally allowed me to enter, assuring me that she would review the matter. After finishing my workout, I returned to ask if everything was settled, and she confirmed that it was.
Today, April 10th, Ms. Laveringe stopped me again, repeating the same check. It seems unreasonable and frustrating to have to go through the same process again. Iâm not sure if itâs a memory issue or if thereâs another reason for this unnecessary insistence.
Iâve attached an image of the payment for the months I missed and my regular...
Read moreRecently I sent my daughter there for camp. The price was great and close to my moms house. First week my daughter enjoyed herself and made two new friends. They gave her two shirts and a bookbag. Unfortunately, the counselors and staff are very negligent of your children. They dont pay attention when something bad happens to your child. They wont take responsibility if something happened to your child either. The staff doesnt advise you if there are any changes in the schedule or if they change your childs group. Thier reason: there were too many kids in one group and had to separate kids for âgroup ratioâ. The staff was rude to my mother whenever she picked up my daughter. We werent given any orientation or any guide book to be aware of any rules.
My daughter was in one group one week and then was changed to a different group the following week. Unfortunately, on the second week my daughter was getting bullied in her group. We were very upset. I called to speak to the director of the group. However, when i called i spoke to someone else at the front desk and all they can say was, we need your daughter to identify the kid who slapped her first. NO APOLOGY. I told them i wanted to speak with the Camp director. They told she would contact me. I have not received a phone call. This happened last Wednesday!!! I called again on last Friday. Asking to speak to the Camp director. Again NO ONE APOLOGIZED for my daughter being traumatized being at that camp. I asked for a partial refund. They cant give one because they consider this an absence. Im calling the bank and requesting a full refund. This place is a disgrace and not for the kids or...
Read moreSo recently I told my wife that we should cancel our gym membership that and join the YMCA instead. We went online and found out they have day passes free of charge (up to 3 visits) so We visited this location a few days ago and got a tour of the whole facility by Elan. She was very friendly and very informative. She took her time showing us around, explaining where everything was and answering all our questions. I donât usually take time out of my busy schedule to sit down and give a review but I thought I would do it this time since we were very impressed with Elan and this location. That small area doesnât even look like the bronx! Lol (in a good way). The reason why I didnât give it 5 stars it was because my wife and I are interested in maybe joining spin classes and that class is inside the gym which is a separate building, which means members have to exit the main building, walk outside, and go through the gym to get to the room where they have the class. Also itâs a 30min drive for us but oh well. Overall the place looks clean, has friendly staff, and other members we saw seemed respectful (considering weâre a lesbian couple). But we Will definitely sign up to be a member after weâre done with our...
