Shore Haven Diner — Restaurant in New York

This restaurant use to be my go-to for delivery for awhile despite having a couple bad experiences with one particular driver who didn’t feel like delivering closer to my door, at the time I had a medical condition that caused me to stay off of my feet for some time as I explained this to him the guy was rude and just didn’t care. I continued to order from this establishment and was lucky enough not to have experienced such rude and unprofessionalism until here recently. I ordered delivery directly from restaurant and the person taking the order didn’t speak or understand English very well and was not careful to ask someone else to take the call if she had such a problem recording my correct address: as I sat on my porch I noticed a keep/SUV driving back and forth up and down my street and the guy was looking quite aggravated from what I could tell. I called restaurant to check the status and was informed the driver was in my neighborhood attempting to located my house. By time I hung up, the guy stopped in front of my house and bolted out of his vehicle talking loudly and flaring his arms speaking in my direction saying something about the address numbers. So as he was approaching the gate to enter and walk down the driveway towards where I was sitting I stood up and realized then that I had left the cash in the house so I tell him to wait just one moment. As I am walking to the door I could here him fussing to himself about his perception of me and it was very personal so I tell him to cancel the order. I no longer wanted it after that and that’s when he proceeded to say “nigger!” To him he think he was calling me that name when in fact he is Hispanic but certainly the only person acting “in an immature manner” was him. I have it recorded on my Ring doorbell also. I will never ask this restaurant for anything not even for a napkin, straw, or toothpick. The food is mediocre and frozen until cooked and some things go right in the microwave. Very horrible customer service and food is not so great. Shore Haven diner is an extremely clean diner with excellent food. I could not check off which particular food(s) are good, because everything is good, except for their service. Three times this week I entered to have breakfast . The first day I sat at the counter, because there were no tables available. It took them 11 minutes before they noticed I was sitting right in front of them. I finally got a cup of coffee, but was never asked if I wanted a refill, I had to get their attention. The second time I sat at the table. It took a reasonable amount of time for me to get a menu and coffee, but when I did, I informed the waitress that I usually like to have 2-3 cups of coffee before I ordered my food. I waited 15 mins, before I had to get her attention for a refill. When I was ready for my third cup, I once again had to wait to get her attention. At this time I decided to pay for my coffee and walked out without ordering any food.

Today (Friday May 17th) I walked in at 9:10am, and sat at a table of my choice. There were only three other tables occupied. A male Spanish (with a nice black beard) waiter brings me a menu and I proceed to ask for coffee. In the same sentence I indicated that I like to have 2-3 cups of coffee before ordering. I waited 9 minutes, before I got his attention (he was actually standing 19 feet from me having a conversation with someone sitting at the counter) for a second cup. When I was finally ready for a third cup I see him conversing by the front of the kitchen area, so I waited. I decided to catch up on 25 emails on my phone and he still had not come by to ask if I were ready to order or if I would like more coffee. I finally got tired of waiting and decided to once again, pay for my coffee and walked out without eating. Let me add, the diner was empty at the time and he took care of a couple sitting right behind me. Extremely disappointed. I eat here often and spoke so highly to my friends and family about this place, only to now reconsider no longer...

This was one of the worst experiences a person could have. The diner had great reviews and is fairly cheap. My wife and i ordered a very simple breakfast. French toast deluxe and a whole wheat protein wrap. It took 2 hours to arrive! I called after 1 hour and was told by the "manager" it was on its way. Ok. Waited another 45 mins and the "manager" states he never received the order and he was sorry. He was "having a bad day". He offered to make it fresh. I told him I would pick it up since its a 5 min drive. He agreed. Already annoyed, I hopped in my car to get it. I arrive at the diner and my wife calls me saying theres a driver outside with our food. The driver said the food was made but left there for a while. At least he was honest. I had to drive back to my house. Now I'm really annoyed. I waited an hour and 45 mins, no food AND I have to go get my own food i paid a delivery tip for, to now come back to get food that was sitting there. I called the "manager" and he brushed us off as if we didn't have a valid point. He didn't know what he was doing so I asked to speak with the owner and he said fine. In spanish he tells the owner theres a customer on the phone unhappy. I ACTUALLY HEARD THE OWNER SPEAK WITH HIM. The "manager" comes back to the phone and tells me the owner isn't there. I speak and understand spanish. Next time putting me on hold would've been smart. Needless to say I called seamless and got my money refunded. It may have just been a bad day, but whoever thought it was a good idea to have that man as the "manager" needs a lesson in management. He lied to his customer and even worse, the owner did the same.
