Let’s first start with my sign up process. The person who helped me was great. She was helpful. Everything went smoothly, no issues.
The issues started when 3-4 months after I signed up for my unit during one of their promo , I get an email stating my storage unit price was going up. So apparently signing all the paper work does give you the price for the time you’re there. They can raise it at any time. Which , had I been told, I’d have kept looking or prepaid for my time there.
I called customer service to inquire on why this was happening and so soon after I got the unit. I was told they would have someone contact me in 48 to 72 hrs. I still haven’t had a call from anyone. The unit price jumped $40!
I paid it for 3 months more as I was moving and would just take my things. I moved this past Saturday and couldn’t fit everything in my uhaul. Since I had to do one more day of work in ny I decided I’d get the rest to avoid another months bill. I had to come back to New York today. Today is July 2nd and I’m paid up for up to July 16. I get out of work at 5:30 and made it to queens at 6:30 and to the nail 15 mins before close. The gates weren’t working, it said only works until 6:30 even tho they close at 7. The same person who signed me up was there and she let me in. Same thing happened with the elevator. Wouldn’t let me in said closed as of 6:30. Again I needed to be let up. I rushed and brought it all down in on trip and loaded what I could into my friends car and waited for him to return for me and the other few items.
When I asked earlier if I had to physically be here to cancel I was told yes. While I was waiting for my friends return I called customer service and they canceled the unit for me.
This location closes too early. It’s not for working people. Makes no sense. And the price jump is outrageous. Not even a 5 or 10$ increase but 40! And will continue to rise whenever they choose. Never would I ever again. And I’d never recommend them.
The persons I’ve interacted with at this location have all been very nice. This review does not reflect their service but the company itself.
Stick to your prices and if price increases must happen do so moderately not drastically. Also it should be more convenient to access your items at the times...

All the facilities are the same in terms of features, layout and protocols for setting up accounts and accessing the units. This review is more a general critique of the corporation as opposed to this or any specific location.
My main issue is the costs which are vastly different then what is advertised. For instance, the 5x5 SMALL unit is advertised on their main website as $25 (Currently 15% off & first month free for a total of $24.65) This is INCORRECT. I paid exactly $56.59 at move in. This included the mandatory insurance of $12 (monthly for only $2K coverage which is a rip off) A $ 25 admin fee and something called a CS-670-1 DISC LOCK for $17.99 which I have never been charged for at other CubeSmart facilities at various locations in Florida (Cape Coral, Dania Beach..etc)
The TRUE monthly cost which includes a $1.95 convenience fee for paying online is actually $40.30 and NOT the advertised price of $25! Either change the ads so they reflect the real costs or reduce all these excessive fee's we are charged. This is a scam.
Use these facilities as a last resort and get out FAST or you end up paying excessively for something that should be temporary. Otherwise you end up spending far more storing your stuff then it's total value.
UPDATE: I was also scammed by being charged for a CS-670-1 DISC LOCK for $19.59 which I did not purchase or receive. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB Complaint ID: 12631115. The GM, Janet on 2 separate occasions has falsely assured me I would get a REFUND. As of 01/30/2018 I have not received anything from CubeSmart and I have vacated my unit over...
Read moreI had a horrible experience at another location where no employees were there to assist during business hours, and I wasted an hour of my time. I googled this location and decided to give it a shot. Once I walked in I was immediately greeted by Omari who was in the middle of helping a customer but made sure to acknowledge me. Omari was professional and very informative, setting the proper expectations. He walked me through the steps online, explained everything and made my experience easy. The next day I returned and was assisted by Lynise who immediately introduced themselves as the store manager, and noticed from the computer I was a new customer. Asking me how my experience was on my initial visit. I expressed my satisfaction with Omari and also mentioned my experience at the other location in which immediate empathy was given. This location had top tier service and I appreciate employees who love their jobs, and have a respect for the company they work for because it makes all the difference.
