D&M Nails — Local services in New York

I went to get gel nails at this salon and chose it because apparently they had a ‘4 star’ rating on Yelp. Little did I know, as soon as I was done getting my nails… I’m about to use their bathroom and they have no running water in their sink. I proceed to ask one of the workers, and she tells me something was wrong with their bathroom sink that day and it’s a work in progress.

What concerned me was how there was no running water in the bathroom, and the workers that day were just handling their clients by simply sanitizing their hands which is outrageous. This is how you get nail infections! And when I asked her about this scenario, she proceeded to give me attitude and looked confused. I also asked for some polish to be removed from my hands, and the nail lady starts giving attitude and talks in Spanish or whatever. Trash place 🗑️

Make sure the workers are wearing gloves when handling your nails or they’re at least washing their hands with soap! And if there is an issue with their water running, they should notify you beforehand that they didn’t wash their hands and you shouldn’t have to proceed because that’s extremely unsanitary and gross. 0 stars if I could give them. AVOID AT ALL COST! You’re welcome!!

Update: most likely have some sort of nail infection going on because of this trash 🗑️ and low quality place. And will have to get the gel nails removed tomorrow. Shouldn’t even have to go through this!! There should be somebody inspecting this salon and any other salon that just allows people to get nail infections super easily and not taking the necessary steps to prevent that!!...

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Lora embarrassed me in front of everyone demanding a tip. I made an appointment for my teen with Lora (she’s the person in charge), they took a “walk in” & left my daughter waiting for 35 mins. When I went to pick up my kid and was not pleased that they didn’t honor the appointment time and worse that they though it’s was ok to let the kid wait and not the adult that walked in without an appointment!! I told Lora why I was not tipping but she started demanding the tip loudly, I walked out and will never use them again, they are not cheap and I pay for the service but the tip has to be earned!! In the past I have tipped them generously and they know it but they feel entitled!! Go somewhere else for professional service bc you won’t...

This nail salon is by far the best one I’ve been to. They take such quality time doing your nails, and they LAST! My gels never last anywhere else, they’re rushed and chip in days. You need a little extra time here because every employee is a perfectionist. I’ve been here a few times and My nails look beautiful and last a long time. Heck, my pedicure looked beautiful for 4 weeks and I wear heels for work everyday. Most pedicures chip in about 2 weeks. Please consider this place if you live in Astoria, or the...
