We went for the first time at around 8 pm for dinner. When I entered, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the music was really blasting. It's too early to have the music so high, especially when someone wants to have dinner, not dance, at 8 pm. I asked the manager if she could please lower the music, but she responded with a rude attitude, saying she couldn’t change it and that it was just the way it was. I think that, as manager has no manners or micromanagement to handle business. As a result, my dining experience was overshadowed by the loud music. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed, as I had hoped for a more enjoyable evening and dismissive demeanor. I believe that a good dining experience should include attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, this encounter left me questioning whether I would return; as I value both the ambiance and the quality of customer care in any establishment I choose to visit. The waitress was lovely and very polite, and the food was average. I understand if it was 11 pm and people wanted to dance, it's ok to have the music so loud, but when you go to eat at 8, normally other high-category restaurants have background music so people can talk. Even the 2 tables next to me were complaining of the same, looking at each other's face because they couldn't talk. It's important for dining experiences to cater to conversation and relaxation, especially during peak dinner hours We believe that we choose the wrong place. While I appreciate a vibrant atmosphere, balancing that with an environment conducive to enjoying a meal is essential for my return. We couldn't talk because I couldn't fight the music. I felt embarrassed to bring this foreign people to a Dominican restaurant, thinking that I was going to bring them to a good restaurant. They like it, but the loud music was an issue so early. It's a nice place, but I will never go back just because of the "so-called manager" and the blasting music at 8 pm. The manager probably thought that she was doing me a favor and treated us in a disrespectful manner. The customer paid their money, and she has a job because of us. I can go to many other places. She doesn't get it. She needs to attract customers, not go one time and, like, never come back. It's frustrating when those in charge forget that their success depends on keeping patrons happy and creating a welcoming atmosphere. I suggest to the owner to have background music until 10 pm, so people can enjoy the dinner. the music normally goes higher after 11 pm when people already had dinner and is ready to...
Read moreI dont write reviews normally but what happened at this place on Saturday was absolutely ridiculous and absurd. First thing is we Had a reservation we were coming from Long Island bad traffic because of the rain so we called TWICE to make sure it was ok that we were running a bit late we were told it was "totally fine". One of our cousins arrived a few mins earlier than us and reiterated that we were on our way just running a few mins late, she was told AGAIN "no worries its totally fine". We get there and the "hostess" says that our table was given away which ok thats fine bc we were a few mins late but WHY say 3 separate times that it was "totally fine" and that "we were good"?..... she then tells us that its an $80 "entrance fee" bc theres a band ok we pay it fine. Now while we did enjoy ourselves bc the place is beautiful we're sitting there waiting for this "band" to come and play its now 3am and noo band and the place closes at 4am sooo where is this band and what time do they plan on starting??! I call the "manager" over to get some kind of explanation as to why i was charged $80 bc theres a band and the band was yet to appear, he proceeds to tell me that the band is actually outside sitting in the car waiting, im confused waiting for what??? He then says that the restaurant only booked the band for 40mins. NOWHERE did ANYBODY say that the band was only there for 40 mins! And at the absolute enddd of the night b4 closing! To charge $80 per person "bc a band is going to perform" and not have the band show up until the last min before closing for only 40 mins is absolute robbery! And they only take cash which i noticed why, if they would have accepted card EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE of those people in there would have disputed the charge! As for performers or bands going to play there this restaurant isn't about showing their customers a good time its SOLELY about how much money they can get out of each person! What a horrible experience we basically handed them $80 each for LITERALLY NOTHING we left at 3:30am the place closes at 4am and thats when the "band" was walking in! Now we were NOT there solely for the band we went to have a good night what I had a HUGE PROBLEM with was being charged $80 for something that wasn't even present until the last min before closing where we couldnt even fully enjoy the $80 we were charged! Thats just wild to me! Literally stealing money! Lastly they lost about 3 tables because this exact reason i know this because one the girls which was extremely nice and...
Read moreWe had booked my friend’s birthday dinner here. We were told the day before it was a $100 deposit to book a party of 10+ which was fine, but when we arrived, our server Lina was not accommodating and not relaying the price of items. We asked for pitchers of margaritas and she had given us classic when we asked for strawberry and mango. Then we later ordered only appetizers, and didn’t receive them all. Not once were we offered hookah, or told the prices of our pitchers because they were not listed on the menus. Lina explained they only serve 2 people, and when we got our pitchers it was clear they were very small. When it came down to pay we saw that the very small pitchers costs $60 each. She also charged us for the strawberry and mango pitcher which we never received. She had only served us the classic margarita pitchers the whole night. When we told her about the mistake on our receipt she continued to say “it’s only a little more money “ we explained that it wasn’t about the money but the fact that we didn’t receive the service we requested. She rudely walked away in the middle of our conversation and 10 minutes later she returned with the receipt with the correct price of the pitchers. Then we realized we didn’t receive all our appetizers, and were missing our chips and guac, she said that we were not missing anything. We told her that we never got it again and she continued to argue with us about it. Finally she walked away and came back giving us the bill with the app taken off. Overall bad service from Lina C. She was disrespectful and told someone at our table that if we didn’t have the money we shouldn’t come out and that our behavior was bratty. Very disappointing service, we had no problem paying our tab, but it was service we never received and she continued to argue and point fingers about us being cheap. We just paid our tabs and left but I would never recommend this spot or Lina C ever. Horrible customer service and uncooperative servers and management. We left quickly. I would recommend so many spots in Astoria but...
