I am really upset with this store and their cashiers, both myself and my husband shop at this Key Food weekly and pay the prices that are marked. I love how clean the store is, I love the meat and how fresh it is also. But I'm having issue with the cashiers not being familiar with the nation benefits when it's time to check out. I myself am disable and each month I receive from my insurance x amount of dollars to spend in the pharmacy, grocery, gas, pay a bill whatever I choose. We have no problems but it's always one cashier that doesn't know what she is doing and because my husband doesn't want to cause any further delay by calling the manager he will pay from his pocket. That's no problem either but I'm afforded this every month because I pay deductibles, and co-pays from my insurance and this is what is offer to me from my insurance company Aetna. Nation Benefits. We normally have no problem but today my husband had to pay $93 dollars that was suppose to be deposited into our account alongside funds for our monthly bills. We have a daughter who is graduating from University in 2 weeks up in Plattsburgh with her Bachelors and we need to rent vehicle so we can also move her things out of the dorm after her ceremony and pay for a hotel for the 3 days we will be there to attend and gather her to come home. So excuse me if I'm very upset that he had to take $93 dollars out from the $500 that should have been deposited when I have over $215 cash money to spend with the Mastercard logo. I don't know what that cashier did but he said she did something other than what is normally done each month. All cashiers should be trained fully to know what is what and how to these extra benefits are to be done when a customer brings it to your register. If not then the store doesn't need to be in the program at all. I called Atena nation benefits to inquire what stores accept their cards and Key Food is one of them and since I admire and like this Key Food I chose them to spend these benefits with each month but I will take my extra $215 a month and spend it else where. Not only do I spend that $215 monthly I also shop at least $600 monthly there cash because a household needs things weekly, milk, bread, juice, eggs, etc. I normally go to the butcher and buy my meats, however because I am sick most of the time my husband will shop there for our meats to make it easier for himself, especially when he comes in from work. I am so upset because I wasn't expecting him to call me and inform me he had to spend what I wasn't expecting to spend at the current time. Prices are high and things are budgeted accordingly. I hope that this is corrected because this will not happen again. I will take my business somewhere else. Trade Fair, Food Bazaar also accepts Nations Benefits and I will gladly take my business to another competitor. I am rating this store 3 stars based on this issue. OTC is not the same as Nation Benefits they maybe under the same umbrella but are different your cashiers should know the difference between the two. Unacceptable. Cashier Fawzia needs to be trained on how to handle benefits correctly because in this day in age your mistakes are costly to your customers. She incorrectly was charging OTC when she could painly see there was no items for OTC all items were groceries. If this happens again I will have no other choice but to call Atena and Nation benefits to report this...
Read moreThis is seriously one of the worst grocery stores ever, and seeing how many of the 5 star reviews here are obviously fake/made by friends of the owner is almost comedy. The prices are the highest of any grocery store in the neighborhood, prices always ring up higher than marked (especially advertised sales), and the food is often expired (you shouldn’t have to worry about checking the date on a box of crackers, for heaven’s sake, but when you bite in and realize it’s incredibly stale…). The aisles are cramped, the lighting is dim.
The thing that takes it over the top for me? The bag policy is ridiculous. Tell me why this is the only store in the neighborhood where I’ve been asked to turn over my legally mandated empty reusable shopping bag when I enter the door? I absolutely hate that this is the closest grocery store to my home, and it makes it so hard to run multiple errands because bags are ‘forbidden’ in here. Just the worst place. I so wish it would change hands and actually become a half-decent place to shop. The cashiers seem miserable, so they probably agree with...

I remember them being about $8-$10 a box. Here you can pay $20.00 at key foods. Beware sale items. Any mark down in price you can be sure the quality has dropped even further. Always check dates, and not just for expiration date. A product that is only shelved for 5 days would be good 3 days before the expiration date 📅. A product that has a shelf life of 3 years, would not be so good 3 days before its expiration date. Check packed on dates, born on dates etc. Don't ever buy the first piece on a shelf, dig and compare dates. Try to stay out of the aisles all together if you can help it, except for a few things, the healthier, fresh, non adulterated stuff is around the edges...
