Golden Lash — Local services in New York

The people at this place are rude and wasted my time. I called to schedule eyelash extension removal the same day. I asked how much it cost, which they said was $20. When I got there they asked me to lay down to begin and they said the removal will be $30. I reminded them that someone on the phone told me $20. They said okay then said I had to pay tip. Tip is for good service, which at that point I did not receive. Very unprofessional. I refuse to be taken advantage of so I put my shoes on, said thank you and left.

Update: In response to the lies the owner wrote. Not a single person told me anything about $20 being the base price on the phone. The person on the phone told me the cost, told me how long it would take, and scheduled me for later that day. I would've totally understood if that was the case. Secondly, the techs might have had a conversation between themselves about the density of my lashes, but that was not communicated to me at all. I planned to tip as I do with any beauty service but the assertion that I should/ assume that I would not have made me uncomfortable as it felt very racially charged as a Black woman. When the tip was mentioned the only thing I actually said was "tip is for good service." I left because I was not respected as a customer. To be clear it was the man that was rude and spoke to me directly. The actual tech, the woman, didn't address me. He is lying to whoever wrote this review. Telling people to tip is just plain rude. This is by far the best lash salon I have been to! It was my first time at this salon and their works completely blew me away! I was greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff as I entered the studio and they walked me through every step of the procedure and answered all of my questions. I was even offered a new customer discount which I got to enjoy on my first set of extensions here. The overall atmosphere was relaxing, and I fell asleep while the technician was working on my lashes. The final result of the lashes was exactly what I was looking for, if not better!!! The technician took her time to understand what I was looking for and she was VERY GENTLE when applying the lashes. I picked the cashmere lashes which I think was their best lash kind, and I am certain that I made the right choice! We got our lashes done here. In the beginning we were shown the price we would have to pay, and they even said we would get 20% off for being new customers. The lashes were okay and we payed the bill by card. In the end they asked us where we were from. When they found out we were only visiting New York, they showed us the receipt again and asked us which amount of tip we wanted to give. At first we were confused because we had already made the payment. The whole situation got really uncomfortable for us so we decided to give them some money. They said it wasn’t enough because the workers wouldn’t earn anything besides the tip and the situation got even more uncomfortable.
