I want to start out by saying Victor at the front desk was so SO sweet and accommodating! My original room I booked was not ready when I got there after check in time but he did everything in his power to make sure I got into that room as soon as possible. He also offered me complimentary drinks while I waited which was very much appreciated. There was a standard room available, which he did offer me that I declined. Orlando was at the door and taking care of the bags, he was wonderful. He gave me some really great bar and restaurant recommendations within walking distance on the day of check out, which was greatly appreciated. The female bartender, who was working upstairs around 4 pm on Dec 6th was very sweet. Drinks were great, service was great. However, the bar is basically non-existent. It's almost like a waiting room. I was not expecting that so I did ask about it and was told the hotel bar is under renovation, which is fine but I feel it is informative to let guests know if they are looking for a hotel with a nice bar to sit at... this is not it. My particular room had a great view! Victor made sure to give me a phenomenal view, which was greatly appreciated. The room was drafty and I could definitely feel the cold coming up through the floor even while I was laying in bed but I was only there for night so I didn't complain. It was tolerable. Phone didn't work. The bathroom was very standard and dated, but it was clean. The location was good. Everyone keeps complaining about the trash around the hotel. Apparently they have not been in other areas of the city, because there is trash everywhere on the sidewalks. It's NYC... it comes with the territory. Same with noise and sirens, when you stay in a big city, expect to hear noise. It did not bother me personally, however I have grown accustomed to it. I have stayed in hotels where you can hear people walking down the hallways and conversations being held in rooms that aren't connected. This did not happen in this hotel, which was appreciated... I would say, once the bar area is complete and some updates are done in the bathrooms this would be a good hotel for traveling on solo or business trips. The rooms were definitely small, but again, it's New York City. It is expected I was happy to have a room with a view. I will say the best part about my stay was Victor. I hope he is recognized for his wonderful customer service because he truly goes above and beyond for the guests, and that did not...
Read moreI'd like to start by expressing my deepest appreciation to this location. I was on business trip with 10+ people; Only me being a native speaker. I was bit worried on the day 1 of coming to this location, because our group had long trip and everyone was very tired and I did not want any issue to arise during check-in. However my worry was unfounded as ALL staff members (Especially Sabrina, If I remember the name correctly) welcomed and helped us with much enthusiasm and joy. Due to the nature of business trip, every single person in our group had to check-in separately, yet Sabrina and other staffs patiently helped us through. We even had like 5 separate vehicles needed for valet, which without the help from the friendly staffs, would have gotten confusing very fast. I need to stop writing about the staffs because I could write entire essay and more for how nice & helpful they were. Actually felt bad because I couldn't tip everyone -- maybe if I was much richer.
What I liked about the stay doesn't end only at the Staff. The temperature of NYC when I arrived was VERY hot, and VERY humid for me, coming from dry area. The Hotel actually prepared ice cold STRAWBERRY water @ Lobby for all tired and thirsty souls to refresh with. I know some hotels would do similar, but I definitely noticed how well they were re-stocked because that water dispenser was popular!
All my coworkers were very satisfied with the hotel as well, and many of them mentioned staff friendliness, so this isn't just my experience.
Rooms were clean, room keeping on point, best water pressure (Personally care about it). Could use maybe better shampoo & conditioner but considering they are complimentary, I could live with it.
Fastest elevators although probably required due to height. Even though during rush-times wait time for the elevators can be extremely long due to small size. Pretty good value breakfast buffet, especially considering the prices in NYC.
Wish you guys had a pool though :)
Overall, very good experience at this hotel. Without score for staff, hotel gets 4/5 from me. WITH score for staff, I give 5/5 because I can't give 10/5, I...
Read moreThis was our first time saying at this Courtyard, but have stayed 2 previous times at the Residence Inn, which is in the same building and shares a lobby/checkin area (RI: first time was great, second time was meh).||Our family was booked to stay at the Residence Inn for this trip but when we went to check in were told they didn't have a room for us and we'd need to stay at the Courtyard instead. This was frustrating because we booked the room months in advance (with no cancellation option) and paid over $800 for a basic room for one night! And we knew we wanted to stay at the RI. ||Also if you look at prices of the rooms, the Residence Inn is consistently more expensive than the Courtyard. As "compensation" for this downgrade, we were given some extra hotel points, which in all honesty I would have had a refund, but wasn't given the option.||As gold members we did not get early checkin (I know that's not guaranteed). Then we were told we'd get a call when our room was ready, which we never received. We didn't get free breakfast, which was supposed to be included.||The Courtyard room was pretty beat up. It was technically clean but needs to be painted and updated. Frustratingly, one of the beds is pushed up against the wall to the bathroom, so if you are sleeping in that spot you have to crawl down the bed, or over your bed mate to get out - not convenient at all. And you can't set down a glass of water or phone on that side. There also are only chargers in the middle of the 2 beds (besides at the desk), so not convenient for multiple guests to charge their phones overnight near the bed. ||We were already on the fence about our 3rd Residence Inn stay, since the 2nd was not great, but after this it looks like we'll be looking for a new go to hotel in NYC for our trips. Which is a bummer because it is convenient for midtown and seeing shows.||The best thing about our stay were the gentlemen at the valet/luggage stand. They have been consistently great. ...
