It still feels unreal that I WENT BLONDE! My friend went silver!! We went to @haironesalon in Ridgewood, NY but they also have another location at Flushing, NY. Hair was done by @hair_one_tom and his team. When we booked with him for this same appointment, we thought he was going to do our hair one at a time. Nope, there are people who wash hair, color, cut and style while Tom oversees everything and also work on your hair, swapping out at the appropriate times. FOR MY ASIANS PEEPS, this place is sooo worth it!! Right now, they are having a promotion. This is usually $375 but with the promotion, we each paid $300+tips. My hair (long, virgin black) took 10hrs and Rachelās hair took 7.5 hrs (very thick, previously highlighted). Never once did we feel rushed. They took their time in the entire process. I was so traumatized with my previous hair dye experience 7 years ago, done by a white lady in NJ. At that time, she did not execute my inspiration photos and told me that she could do it in ONE hour. That lady botched my hair. It was fried, dry, crunchy, UNEVEN, patchy, stringy, just awful. I paid that lady $200 (it did not include blow dry, cut, and style). She literally dyed my hair, took out the foil, and said done. My hair kept getting tangled and falling out every time I brushed it. š But with Tomā¦ā¦noā¦ā¦His team took their time (with us and all the other clients). Hair One Salon dyed my hair at least 5 times and it doesnāt feel brittle, dry, or crunchy. MY HAIR FEELS SOOO SOFT!! With Tom, you get 1) a whole team, 2) all the time, 3) cut, blow dry, and style, 4) just quality work!! They specialize in Asian hair (though they also have a lot of Non-Asian clients). This is my IT place if Iām ever coloring my hair again. This was our first time getting our hair done here and we were blown away. They exceeded our expectations and we will be back. If you book with Tom, tell him Sharon sent you š¤
2month: My hair started to turn brassy (in a good way) but not yellow because i didn't use purple shampoo. I was still getting a lot of compliments.
4month: My roots started to show but Tom did my hair in a way that it blended when it grew out.
5 month UPDATE: Tom and his team have done it again! I went blonder. Last time, my hair took 10 hours. This time, my hair took 8hours: cut, dye (multiple times), wash, blowdry, style. I have thin fine hair and itās prone to breaking but Tom colors my hair, leaving it soft and healthy. If you go to Hair One in Ridgewood, NY, go on Sundays because free parking. They were so busy yesterday but still took time with my hair. Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo the positives of this place are they are extremely nice, fast paced, clean, and they do nice haircuts, and their prices are super cheap. However, I wonāt be coming here again after my most recent visit unfortunately. I am not sure what happened this time around as I have gone here at least 3-4 times already but my hair pattern and texture completely changed!
All I did was a simple wash and blow with a haircut which came out amazing but being that I have extremely curly hair that usually frizzes up the next day I was surprised I woke up the next day with my hair extremely straight and the same thing the day after that. Wasnāt until I washed my hair when I realized my hair had this horrible smell and my hair was not curling at the end but extremely flat. I thought it was just cause I had just straightened is but everyone in my house smelled that horrible chemical smell from my hair and immediately noticed the difference in my hair pattern that it became more flat and wavy rather than curly. At the end of the day Iām 100% sure since they donāt really know how to manage curly hair they washed my hair with some type of relaxer mixed with the shampoo as they probably thought it wish be easier to blow and straightened my hair.
Moral of the story I wish they would tell people they are doing or using in your hair because now I have to wait till my hair grows out to cut it cause itās super damaged now and wonāt even curl anymore for a good 2-3 inches at the bottom of my hair. I attached pictures for reference. The first picture is my hair before I came to get it washed, blowed and cut. The second photo is after. The second photo isnāt a great photo but you can see how my hair straightens...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming to this salon for haircuts and blowouts, and for $40, Iāve had no complaints ā the service has always been decent for the price.
However, my recent experience with hair coloring was disappointing. Before the appointment, I specifically asked about pricing and was told the service would cost between $150ā$180. I also made it clear that I did not want my hair to be bleached. Despite that, when I arrived and explained the color I wanted, I was told my hair had to be bleached to achieve the desired shade. Wanting the look I had chosen, I reluctantly agreed ā trusting their recommendation.
In the end, I was charged around $460 (including tip) for a color that did not turn out like the photo I provided. I was unhappy with the result, and less than a month later, I ended up dyeing my hair back to my original color.
While Iāve had good experiences here with haircuts, the coloring process did not meet my expectations ā both in terms of the final result and the unexpectedly high cost. This may be just my personal experience, but I hope it helps others make an...
