I went in there for the first time because I hear a lot of good things about L Train vintage in general. Not necessarily this location in particular, but just the company as a whole.
I went in there with a child.... Just had my purse and a diaper bag (w/only the childs necessities: diapers, wipes, changing pad, etc. ... Nothing extra). I did see a sign that said to leave bags up front, but I wouldn't think they would ask for me to leave the diaper bag upfront... For it has all of the babies needs. Just as I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my purse up there, I didn't feel comfortable leaving the diaper bag up there.
So, moral of the story is: I went in there, just had my purse and the diaper bag with the child in the stroller.. And I had both bags hanging on the stroller. The woman up front saw me walk in, and the diaper bag was in her sight, but she never said anything to me, so I thought she would know it was a diaper bag. After 5 minutes of walking around, she came up to me... Acted like she never saw it the first time, and told me to leave it up front. I explained to her that it was the babies bag, and that it had everything they needed in there. She barely spoke English, but understood enough to know what I was saying. But she wouldnt leave me alone until I left it up there. So I did.
Long behold a white lady with the same exact things I had (baby in stroller, diaper bag, purse), plus more, walks in.. And the woman who works there never said one word to her, at least while I was there, about her leaving bags up front. And the woman was there a good 15/20 minutes before I left, and never had to put anything up there. But the woman who worked there came after me after 5 minutes.
Given, I did find jeans there that still had new tags on them for $6. But, besides that, my experience was horrible. It left me livid to say the least. And that's why I only gave it 2 stars. It sounds like racial profiling to me; but...
Read moreThe selection is amazing and so is the pricing. I was able to find a lot of amazing items. I got to the fitting room and saw it was a five item limit. Okay, understood. That’s fairly standard. I ask the fitting room attendant where to leave the items that I couldn’t take in with me and she showed me a spot on the go-back rack to put them, so I put them there. She knows I put them where she told me to put them. I start to rotate through my stuff. I left the stuff that didn’t work on the other side of the rack that I saw her putting stuff back from and put the pieces I was thinking about getting with the stuff I was still rotating into the fitting room. When I finished trying on; I was shocked to find my stash of stuff I was planning on buying had been put back. I asked the fitting room attendant where it went and she said she put it back. I asked where it was and she said the rack where you got it. I asked her to show me where she put it back and she didn’t respond and didn’t further help. I was able to locate the items, but it was absolutely frustrating. There was a clear lack of signage about how to handle the 5 item limit like there is at places like Buffalo Exchange. I told the cashier about how I was frustrated about this experience and her only response was to say the fitting room has a limit of 5 items. I would have stayed longer and tried even more on, but I had such a terrible fitting room experience I’m not sure I ever want...
Read moreI frequent this location as this is the closest L Train Vintage location to me. It is of a decent size in comparison to their other locations. Love this place for its true pricing for their items for a thrift shop. Honestly, I can say that I only have shopped here and the Goodwill near my job. They truly carry vintage clothing, or even theatrical period costumes. It's really neat to see these types of clothing as it is not like everyone get a chance to see or touch these. They have a good selection of jeans, jumpers, skirts, denim jackets, windbreakers. I can't say for hand bangs or women's shoes. But it's got generally everything. Some times I get lucky and score a nice piece there, but I wish that happened to me more often. It really depends on the person's preference in sense of style/fashion, of course. So don't get discouraged! Try visiting this place, give it a chance. It is also easily accessible via R train, get off at Union Street station. It's not much of a walk in comparison to the...
